Buses Are Moving
It was great to see buses at our school this past week. Some of our programs are starting to offer in-person instruction. Thank you for your patience as we gradually welcome students back to the school based on the county health district requirements.
Information from our Counselors
Supporting Children and Teens during COVID-19
Coping during COVID-19 is hard. Fear and anxiety about this new disease can feel overwhelming and cause many different emotions in adults and children. There have been many changes to our way of life including, school closures, adapting to online school, job losses or changes, wearing a mask, social distancing and feeling isolated and lonely. These changes and uncertainties add to our stress and anxiety. It is important that we take care of each other and learn to cope with our stress in a healthy way.
Please contact your student's school counselor or our student support advocate, Azra Grudic 360-965-8875 (please leave a message) if you would like help finding resources for your child or family.
Below is some helpful information about how to support children and teens during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On October 17th we will offer the PSAT test for students. The cost will be $45. Those funds help pay for the PSAT booklet and the proctor fees. Signs up will start with our juniors first. We will share more information as soon as we receive the test booklets.
Google Meets Are Required
The daily Google Meets are required (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday). Please see our weekly schedule below. If a student can’t attend a Google Meet, you can excuse the student by calling the high school, using Family Access, or sending Janeen Smith an email (jsmith@stanwood.wednet.edu).
When can your student make contact with their teachers?
Teachers are working during normal school hours (7:10 a.m. – 2:40 p.m.). The teachers have set office hours on Wednesdays. But your student can send the teachers an email any time. Teachers agree that distance learning can be a challenge. However, we are all in this together and the teachers want to help their students. Please encourage your student to ask for help when they need it.
Questions about the distance learning program?
Please click on the link to the left of our website for all distance learning program information. There you will find our schedule, guides for students on using Google Meets and Google Classroom, grading/assessment information, and advisory. We also have information on chrome books and hot spots.
**Please remind your student they should have an appropriate screen icon for Google Meets. They also need to pay attention during the Google Meets, which means no playing video games and no visiting with others in their home setting. One final request is that students only put appropriate comments in the chat.
Chromebooks Still Available
We still have some chrome books available if your student needs one. Students and/or parents/guardians can come to the main office to pick one up. We still have a wait list for hot spots. For more information, please contact Wendy Fox in the main office (wfox@stanwood.wednet.edu).
