From the Principal
I cannot believe we have made it to the end of the first semester. It has flown by! I am so proud of our students for all their hard work! It is exciting to see how much they have grown academically and socially. Thank you all for a great first semester. We are looking forward to a holiday break!
I also wanted to take a moment to say Thank You to our amazing PTO for the hot cocoa bar and Cinnabons today! It was a wonderful treat for our staff.
Don't forget next Friday is an early release. Students will be dismissed at 12:05.
Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns!
Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Thompson

Reporting Student Absences
If your child is sick or will not be present at school please inform us each day of the absence. To report an absence for your child, please do one of the following:
- Email the registrar – srandall@conroeisd.net with your student’s absence information.
- Call our attendance line at 936-709-1610 and leave a message stating your child’s name, reason for the absence, person reporting the absence, and a phone number.
When your child returns to school, a note explaining the absence should be brought to their teacher or the front office.
If your child is not in attendance at school for the entire day for any reason, the student is considered “absent”. There are basically two types of absences:
- Excused Absence: an absence is considered "excused" when there is prior parental notification (phone call or email) explaining the absence, or a note from a parent or medical professional upon return to school. Absences can be excused if they are related to illness, medical appointment, a death in the family, or other health related reasons. An excused absence does not remove the absence from the student’s record, but it does document that a student is absent for an excusable reason.
- Unexcused Absence: an absence is considered “unexcused” when there is no prior parental notification, no note or email sent upon return explaining the absence, for family travel/vacation, or other absences not recognized as "excused" by the district or state.
CISD Cell Phone Policy, K-6th
The Conroe ISD Board adopted new guidelines regarding student cell phone use. While it is not a substantial guideline change at the elementary level, there are changes in which parents need to be aware. The new guidelines state the following:
Cell phones and smartwatches may be used respectfully and responsibly before school and after school.
Cell phones and smartwatches should not be used to capture video, audio, or images at school or on the bus.
Cell phones and smartwatches should be set on silent mode and kept in backpacks, lockers, or other designated storage areas and should not be visible during school hours including instructional time, reward time, free time, lunch, and in the hallways.
Use of cell phones and smartwatches may be permitted in extenuating circumstances with permission from a staff member. (ex. to notify parent/ guardian of a late bus)
Notes From the Nurse
You can help stop the spread of flu at school and in the workplace by staying home when you are sick. Please be aware of these common flu signs and symptoms.
Mrs. Beardsley's Art Class,
If you have Mrs. Beardsley for art class you have a "Winter Glow Art" next week. Please feel free to wear neon on the day you see Mrs. Beardsley.

Bush PTO Jingle Bell Run
Our Bobcats will be celebrating their efforts to help us raise money for Bucks for Bush with a fun run on December 12th. The Jingle Bell Run will take place at Alden Bridge Park in the morning. We will have snow, music and a jolly festive time! We are still finalizing the schedule, but in the meantime, we are looking for a few items to borrow to make the event a fun one for our Bobcats and families. If you have one of these items at home and can lend them out for the morning, please sign up here: https://bit.ly/3Ro0st2.
A big thank you to Dr. Kevin Smith at The Woodlands Sports Medicine Centre, for sponsoring the event.
