Week of January 25-29, 2021

Instructional Choice 5th 6 weeks

Beginning January 25th, all Burleson ISD parents who want to change from on-campus instruction to virtual instruction or from virtual instruction to on-campus instruction for the 5th six weeks can log in to Family Access and complete the “2020 - 21 Instructional Choice for 5th Six Weeks” form. Please complete this form by January 31st for each student who you wish to switch.

If you do not know your Family Access Login/Password, you can click on the “Forgot your Login/Password?” link to have this information emailed to you. For additional help, please email ONLINEFORMS@BISDMAIL.NET for assistance.

Our goal is to maintain consistency for students in the classroom as much as possible; however, due to the nature of this school year, depending on the number of student's making a change to instructional choice, we may have to change a student's teacher to balance the numbers in the classroom.

Spring UIL Information

We are excited to offer UIL events this spring!

As we work to keep our students safe and healthy this year while still offering academic opportunities, UIL will look a bit different than in years past.

  • Students and families will be able to access study materials through this website to be able to practice at their convenience. This allows students to participate independently and does not require a campus level coach.

  • Events will take place on a student's home campus the week of March 23-25th. For those families that express an interest, specific details will be emailed closer to the event date.

  • Virtual learners will be asked to come to campus on the day of the event if they would like to be considered in official scoring. Students may participate virtually but their results will be unofficial (scored but not ranked in overall awards).

  • There is not a try out process, all that want to compete in an event may. Students will be allowed to participate in up to 2 events.

  • Event participants will be individually scored 1st-6th, but there will not be campus or team awards this year.

Please complete this interest survey by January 29th, 2021 if your student would like to participate in UIL event(s) this March.

GT Referral

The annual window for Gifted and Talented (GT) referrals is open (January 1 - 31) for students currently in grades 2-12. GT services are provided for identified students in grades 3-12. Please see this video for a brief overview of the referral process (instructions for adjusting the language of the captions in YouTube). This link will take you to the BISD Gifted and Talented Education web page, and these links (English | Spanish) will take you to the referral forms. If you have any questions, please contact Kerri Owens at kowens@bisdmail.net.

Valentine's Day Party

On February 12th at 2:15 pm, we will have Valentine's Day Parties. For the safety of our students and staff, each student will need to bring their Valentine's Day cards on Friday, February 5th. Teachers can then pass them out or have students sanitize their hands before passing them out the week of February 8th. The cards will then be sent home on February 12th. Remember: we do not allow outside deliveries of gifts to students.
Big picture

Please send a water bottle with your child each day.
