Quote of the Week

"You never really understand a person until you consider things from their point of view ... until you climb into their skin and walk around in it" --Harper Lee

Principal's Message

Welcome to week four of our academic school year! This week, our administrative team is really excited as we will begin our informal walk-throughs into classrooms to observe the awesome learning happening in all of our classrooms.

Also, in one of my conversations this week with one of our staff members, we spoke about the importance of making the right choices. We further discussed the importance of how we must not only tell our middle school students to make choices that will lead to positive outcomes, but about the importance of giving students the proper mental frameworks that they can use to make the right decisions or choices.

For example, if we use a mental framework that includes empathy, kindness, and compassion then we can teach our middle school students the importance of thinking about how others will feel before speaking, thinking, acting, or reacting.

Which mental frameworks do you use at home to help you guide your decisions? We encourage you to have these types of conversations at home with your middle schooler for the purpose of ensuring that they have the proper mental frames to make the right decisions. We want them to always make the right choices! Let's make great decisions this year! Our School Site Council Needs You!

The School Site Council (SSC) at Bonita Vista Middle School is in need of 2 more parent representatives to serve on the committee.

Serving as a member of the committee involves attending a one-hour meeting once a month (dates TBD). The meetings are held in the library and start promptly at 3:30 p.m. When elected to the School Site Council, a person serves a two-year term unless they no longer meet the membership requirements. This is an excellent way to have an active voice in school governance and decision-making. Please click on the link below:
