Message from the Principal
Dear Knights,
Spring is usually very busy with projects, competitions and events. It is no surprise that it is the same for this school year. Yesterday, Future City students presented in front of the Chandler City officials and they were very impressed. They will present to the Chandler school board next week prior to the board meeting. Speech & Debate was impressive at the last tournament taking home 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards. Drama club is in full rehearsal mode and I can't wait to see their production. Choir will be performing next week at the Choral Festival. Our 6th grade student, Suchith will be participating in the Regional Spelling soon. Our Science students have found out who will be moving forward to the HISEF and are in full preparation mode for the innovation fair on Feb. 25, 2023. Our wrestling, girls basketball and boy soccer teams are showing off their newly acquired skills to claim wins. StuCo is getting ready for their convention in addition to fundraising for it. With all of this going on, don't forget to stay focused and continue to stay on top of your studies.
6th & 7th graders should have their course selection sheets completed & turned in by Monday to the counselors.
Safety:
- During drop off, please practice safe driving. Please drop off your students anywhere along a sidewalk - please do not wait to get to the front to drop off. Once you drop off the student, you may go around the cars to exit the building but please do not create situations where accidents can happen
- Please be alert during both pick up and drop off i.e., stay off your phones
- Follow the traffic pattern as is during drop off and pick up for efficiency
- Please always be courteous to other drivers and our neighbors
- If you are visiting the campus, please check in through the front office - do not enter the building from any other entrance even if the construction gates are open

2023-2024 School Year Bus Transportation Requests Now Available
The Transportation Department is now accepting applications for busing for the 2023-2024 school year on a first come, first served basis. ALL families must apply and/or reapply for transportation, even if you were assigned a bus for the current 2022-2023 school year. The Transportation Request Form is available online at Transportation / Documents and Forms (cusd80.com) and is attached for your convenience.
All completed forms MUST be emailed to the transportation department at routing@cusd80.com. DO NOT return this form to the school as it will delay the application process.
Field Day
At ACP, we push students to strive for the impossible and be extraordinary. We will reward their efforts with a celebratory Field Day on Friday, April 21. ACP's first Field Day will include morning sessions with guest speakers on topics including mindfulness, healthy habits, career and goal setting, and other topics to pique students' interest. The afternoon will include several fun activities for students including outdoor games, food trucks, inflatables, music, and friendly competitions around campus. We are looking for parent volunteers to help plan the event, recruit guest speakers for the morning, reach out to various outside vendors, and welcome our ACP parents and adult relatives to be guest speakers at our morning sessions. FINAL DAYS FOR YEARBOOK SALES (PREORDER ONLY) - JOSTENS
For a student to get a yearbook the last week of school, parents/students must pre-order on-line before the end of quarter 3.
Cost: For those that preorder now, the cost of the yearbook is $45.00 and will only be sold for a limited time. (Payment Plan Avail.)

to order a yearbook. Be sure to maintain a copy of your emailed receipt as proof of purchase. Order now to ensure that your student receives a yearbook. Families may pay with a debit or credit card by going online to Jostens’ and selecting Arizona College Prep—MIDDLE SCHOOL.
Delivery: Yearbooks will be distributed the last week of school ONLY to those students who pre-ordered their book.

POWER HOUR REGISTRATION - FEBRUARY
Power Hour is an academic support we provide at ACP Middle School on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Power Hour runs from 2:50 pm - 3:50 pm Tuesday-Thursdays. Students must be pre-registered for attendance and must be picked up promptly at 3:50 pm at parent pick-up. We will be enforcing i.e., losing power hour privileges if students are consistently picked up late or are signed up but do not show up 2 or more times.
Notes:
- These are not instructor led sessions and parents must provide student transportation.
- In order to attend, all students must signup weekly through signup genius. Students may only be signed-up for 1 week at a time.

* We provided a Floridino's lunch to our staff for parent/teacher conferences so they could focus on their conferences. We hope your conferences went well!
*Let's GLO Dance is tonight (Friday) and we did a majority of our sales online for the dance. We hope it made things easier for parents and families.
* THANK YOU to everyone who participated in School Cents. The awards ceremony is being held later this month so we look forward to sharing how we did soon!
* Friday Shirts and Chromebook sleeves are still available. Kids grow quickly so please see our store on our website to purchase what you need. We have limited quantities and sizes. Reach out if you have any questions or want to check on availability.

Counseling & Social Work Department Update
The Counseling and Social Services department has a monthly wellness newsletter for caregivers and families called Medieval Monthly. The newsletter will provide ideas, tips, tricks, and resources on how to best support your ACP Middle School student. You can find ACP’s most current Medieval Monthly by visiting the ACP Middle School website and looking under “Our Staff” and “Counseling and Social Services.”
Opportunity for parents - There is a Listen and Learn event at Hamilton High School on 01/24/2023. The event is for parents/guardians of 5-12th graders. They will watch the documentary Childhood 2.0 followed by a Q&A session. Childhood 2.0 showcases the impact of screens, social media, and video gaming on our youth and how to support them. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the documentary begins at 6 pm.

Chandler Unified School District is pleased to partner with NetTutor to offer free online, on demand 24/7 tutoring.
NetTutor offers K-12 CUSD students live tutoring on-demand, question drop-off, and writing feedback. Tutors are subject matter experts trained in how to translate tutoring best practices and learning strategies to support students online.

PLEASE MAKE A TAX CREDIT DONATION TO ACP MIDDLE SCHOOL
Arizona tax law allows individual taxpayers to claim a nonrefundable tax credit for making contributions or paying fees directly to a public school in AZ for support of eligible activities and programs.
At the junior high level, the school office is unable to reallocate / redirect funds without parent and district approval. Be sure to select the specific fee for the activity where you want your payment applied. Sports fees are assigned quarterly and club fees are assigned once established.
When paying fees online (band/ orchestra, club or athletics fees, etc.), please consider making an additional contribution to our general fund in December to reach the maximum credit allowable.

Once you have paid all outstanding fees for ACP Middle School or if you have a family member that resides in AZ, please consider making an additional tax credit contribution to ACP's general fund before December 31st. If you are able to make your tax contributions prior to the end of the calendar year, your donation would be greatly appreciated. It will help give us a jump start on some of our essential extracurricular activities. We have set a goal to collect approximately $50,000.00 this school year and hope that you will be willing to help us meet our goal. Thank you for supporting your child and ACP Middle School!
Tax Credit Basics…
A tax credit donation is a full refund, not a deduction. Contributions eligible for a tax credit are donated directly to schools, not to the state or school district. Arizona Law ARS 43-1089.01 enables taxpayers a tax credit contribution of up to $400.00 per year if filing status is “Married, filing Joint Return;” $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is “Single of Head of Household;” and $200 per calendar year if filing status is “Married filing separate returns.” These contributions fund extracurricular activities in public schools and greatly impact our school community and our students.
