Updates for the Week of Nov. 14-18
Hello First Graders & Families!
We want to take this opportunity to tell you how grateful we are to have you in our classroom community! We are so thankful for our wonderful class and the support of our families.
Thank you for all you do to support our school and students.
This Thursday, November 17, we will host a PTO Family Night! Please come by our classroom between 6-7 pm to check out some great resources to help you support your child's literacy at home! We will also enjoy a performance by our 4th and 5th grade students at 7:00 in the gym. We hope to see you there!

* Media is on Monday! Please bring your books to return!
* NO SCHOOL next week (November 21-25) Happy Thanksgiving!

Writing: "How - To" writing. (How to make a pumpkin pie!)
Social Studies: History of Thanksgiving.
Science: Magnets.

Updates for the Week of Nov. 7-11
Hello First Graders & Families!
We will send a new spelling list this week, but we will NOT have a spelling test this Friday. We will work on List A of Unit 10 this week and List B of Unit 10 the following week. This will give us some extra time to practice this new spelling and decoding skill!
We are looking forward to another great week in First Grade!

Updates for the Week of Oct. 31- Nov. 4
Hello First Graders & Families!
Happy November Everyone!
This week marks the start of the 2nd Quarter!
We are so very excited for our upcoming field trip to the JAWC this Wednesday. Please be sure that you have completed and signed the form if you plan for your child to attend. Remember, your Field Trip Payment Plan will cover the cost of this trip! If you have questions or need help please reach out to us!
Be on the lookout this week for Progress Report #2. These will go home on Wednesday. Please be sure to sign the envelope to let us know that you have reviewed the report. The contents in the envelope are yours to keep!
A Few Reminders:
*Field Trip Wednesday, November 2!
*Don't forget to bring a water bottle each day! Many students are not bringing a water bottle to school daily and we are unable to use water fountains except for bottle filling.
*We will have Media on Wednesday- please be sure to bring your books to return!
*This week we have PE on Tuesday and Friday. Be sure to wear tennis shoes!

Home Work Help
Each night, Monday through Thursday, we will have opportunities for you to work with your child on literacy, writing and spelling! These routines should take between 10-20 minutes each night. The nightly recommendations are listed below:
*Read your baggie book.
*Read your spelling words to your parent 2X.
Tuesday Night
*Read your baggie book.
*Write your spelling words 3X each.
Wednesday Night
*Read your baggie book.
*Write 5 sentences. Use a spelling word in each sentence.
Thursday Night
*Read your baggie book.
*Take a practice spelling test. (Tricky words, list words, and 2 sentences)
Friday Night
*Check your folder!
*Have a great weekend!
