The Fusion News

A newsletter to keep you informed of everything Fusion!

It's Summer Time!

Another school-year has come to an end at Fusion and as we get started with Discovery Camp, and relax a bit, we thought it was a great time to establish this monthly newsletter. In it you will find updates about our company, the fabulous people that are a part of it and exciting new happenings in education and in our very own "Fusion World." So here is the first of many newsletters to come! Should you have any questions or concerns about anything you find here please let us know by shooting me an email.

Kidding Around Yoga UPDATE

As you all know, we have been working to bring a Yoga program to our schools. We found the perfect company to partner with, Kidding Around Yoga (KAY). KAY is based out of Florida and was developed to be a fun and engaging way for children to enjoy and experience the benefits of Yoga. To learn more about KAY and its founder click here.

Our initial thought was to train all teachers to become certified KAY instructors, but to do this we needed a grant to help with training costs. Unfortunately we were not awarded the grant (as some of you may have already heard) so we have come up with an alternate way to bring KAY to Fusion that will not require any additional training for you.

The best solution to this debacle was to look outside our organization. As luck would have it, we have found someone who currently teaches "Mommy and Me" yoga classes locally and is crazy excited about becoming a KAY instructor. She will come and teach a KAY class at each school once/week. We will even arrange for her to spend some time with the infant programs as well. Through this process you all will learn techniques to bring into your classes on a daily basis, as we continue to work with the founder of KAY to develop a more "preschool friendly" training program.

To sum all of this up... YES, yoga is still coming to Fusion, and NO, you do not HAVE to be trained. Now, if there are some of you who WANT to be a certified KAY instructor and teach KAY classes at your school please send me an email and I will see what we can do about getting you the training you would need to do so.

We apologize for the craziness with which this has all been handled, we appreciate how willing you all are to just "go with the flow" and allow us the time to get it all figured out.

We will update you as to when you can expect your school to have its first KAY class. We will be in touch with the Directors of each school to determine the best times and days of each location. Questions? Don't hesitate to contact me!

Fusion Kids Co-op is Opening August 17th!

Our newest addition to the Fusion Family of schools is the Fusion Kids Co-op, a parent-run, non-profit, community-based preschool that we are opening in partnership with First 5 Yuba. Fusion Kids Co-op will have a Director (Courtney Long who has been a part of the Fusion Family for years!) and teaching parents. There are a variety of levels of parent involvement. The more a parent is involved, the less they pay in tuition. (If you would like to learn more about these levels click here.) The co-op will run a M, W, F program and a T, Th program. Ages 2-6 are welcomed and potty trained kiddos are preferred. If a child is not yet potty trained we asking that parents be willing to "volunteer" at the school while their child is in attendance to manage their child's diapering needs. This is a part-day only program, and since it will be license exempt, we may not provide any "child care" of any kind. Fusion Kids Co-op is strictly an educational program for young children.

We already have a number of wonderful families involved, but need more for a successful program! As you do with Fusion Early Learning, please don't hesitate to spread the word.

Work on the facility at 4229 Mary Avenue in Olivehurst will start this week with signs going up soon as well.

With the opening of the co-op will come other awesome changes. Dante will finally start actively working in his role as our Director of Education as we will heavily rely on him to help train the parent-teachers as well as be a support for Courtney as the co-op gets going. Dante will also start providing optional teacher trainings throughout the year to all of our teachers in areas like classroom/behavior management, curriculum implementation, teaching techniques, etc. Dante will continue to be the Director of Yuba City North throughout this transition. We will keep you all in the loop as changes occur. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Fusion Early Learning shares our curriculum! Did you know?

At FEL we continue to evolve and that means having multiple streams of revenue so that we may continue to provide a stable work environment for our awesome teachers. We have built a company that can withstand an economic downturn and we are continuing to build its strength in that regard.

About a year ago we began sharing our curriculum with other schools across the U.S. Our first school to adopt our curriculum and methods was "The Learning Cottage" in Sarasota, FL. They have had tremendous success with it and their families and students are having so much fun learning. We currently also have schools in San Francisco and Georgia utilizing the curriculum with interest from schools in several other states and even a couple of schools in other countries who are eager to get started. We anticipate adding several more schools this coming year.

With so many early educators beginning to use our methods and curriculum, we have decided it is time for a website overhaul which will include a teacher forum where you can share your expertise with other FEL teachers around the world. This is a work in progress, but we should be launching it sometime in the next few months.

We are also in the beginning stages of revamping the name of our curriculum (don't worry the methods and curriculum are NOT changing) so that we can start sharing them with the K-12 educational system as well. Something called the Fusion Early Learning Curriculum doesn't really catch the attention of people in primary and secondary educational institutions ya know? With this change will come some online/video trainings to help you better explain just what makes our methods so different from other educational programs.

This is a very exciting time to be in education; we are so happy that all of you are on this journey with us. Like always, should you have any questions or concerns about ANY of these things, please contact me!
