Something from Saldivar
Week of November 9, 2015-November 13, 2015
Create. Collaborate. Cultivate.
Take a moment to reflect on what these three words mean to your craft of teaching. Are these just buzz words or do they hold value for you as an educator. I have been extremely encouraged by several of the walk-throughs conducted these past few weeks. Students have been given the opportunity to create and collaborate through various activities during their instructional time. In turn, the educator in that room has cultivated their students to take ownership for their learning and become confident problem solvers.
If your reflection took you to a place of questioning whether your instructional practices consistently include opportunities for students to create, collaborative and ultimately cultivate successful students, then I urge you to ask yourself when planning your instructional delivery the following questions:
Does the activity I am planning activate critical thinking?
Does the activity promote communication and collaboration?
How is this activity cultivating the learner that I have been given this year?
