KPMS Newsletter
King Philip Middle School
December 19, 2021
This is the last KPMS Newsletter for 2021. We hope that our students will remained focused on working hard as we wrap up the last school week of 2020, so that they can take full advantage of relaxing and enjoying themselves over winter break.
As you know, last week was a challenging week for our community. Please be assured that we remain committed to ensuring a safe and secure learning environment at KPMS. Our district benefits from having a strong partnership with our local police departments. We are also grateful for our School Resource Officer from the Norfolk Police Department, Officer Joe Choiniere, who is at our school each day along with our Community Resource Dog, Officer Mitchell. Officer Joe has provided us with tremendous guidance in the areas of school security and safety, and continues to assist us with thoroughly investigating any threatening comments that may be directed to students, staff, and our schools.
In a letter to families on Friday, December 17, Superintendent Zinni shared a list of resources with the overarching goal of assisting families in supporting students who are struggling with concerns about threats of violence. The list was compiled by our Director of Wellness, Dot Pearl. (Please click here to view the resources.) Included in the comprehensive list are suggestions for parents/guardians to refer to when speaking with their child about threats of violence and school safety. Also included in the resources are lists of local emergency mental health organizations and hotlines.
If you have any questions or concerns about safety at the middle school, please feel free to reach out to me. The best way to reach me is through calling the main office (during the school day) or by email at kreuzerm@kingphilip.org. I thank you all for your continued support and cooperation.
I hope that you have an enjoyable and restful winter break -- and I look forward to seeing you back again in January. Happy holidays!
Sincerely,
Michelle Kreuzer
Principal
