Technology for Teachers

MS/US Technology Integration

The 14-15 school year started with a whirlwind of activity surrounding our efforts to move forward with technology integration in the Middle/Upper School!

We implemented a new computer lab, launched the art Mac lab, added laptops to the Physics and Biology classrooms and installed document cameras in all of our MS/US Math & Science classes.

Whew! That's a lot to cram into the 1st semester, but you are all working hard to find engaging ways to use technology in your lessons and curriculum. I know it can be hard to find time to see what others are doing, so take a quick look at some of the highlights from this semester across the departments. You may find inspiration for technology integration ideas as close as the room next door!

(Be sure to read on down to the end for a sneak peak at what's coming in the second semester!)

Middle and Upper School Humanities teachers played a key role in advancing our technology efforts by bringing each student, grades 6-12, to the lab this semester! Students created passwords for both their Brook Hill and RenWeb accounts, then had to chance to login and see their new accounts in action.

Throughout this semester, we have seen MS & US Humanities teachers visiting the lab with their students for technology related curriculum.

The Math Department has taken the proverbial technology bull by the horns and is off and running. We are seeing students expanding their understanding of how technology applies to the everyday and learning that maybe, just maybe, they will use this math thing in their real lives!

Science labs have gone high tech this semester! With laptops in the Physics classroom and a document camera in Biology, teachers are putting a new spin on what the word "lab" means to hands-on learning in Science.

BH unveils MS/US Teachers YouTube channel!

The Brook Hill Teachers YouTube Channel has been created as a part of Brook Hill's mission to actively integrate technology into curriculum and enable students access to lessons and resources outside of the classroom. This is especially helpful for students that miss class or students needing to review a concept from home! Each video is basically a tutorial that can be viewed as many times as needed! Mrs. McEuen, Coach Agnew, and Mrs. Mize have already posted videos! Check it out!

This is an online event.

Beginning January 12th Brook Hill's 6th grade teachers and students will be utilizing Moodle to deliver homework assignments, collaborative learning experiences, and a variety of resources to their students. Moodle is an online digital learning environment that will allow us to use technology to support and enrich the classroom experience as well as extend student learning outside the classroom. Integrating Moodle is a huge part in effectively preparing our students in the area of educational technology and the use of electronic course content! Take a peek at
