HAPPY TO BE AT WHITESIDES!
Dear Whitesides Families,
I'm Heather Schulz, and I'm so happy to be here as the new principal. I've heard wonderful things about this community, and I'm excited to get to know each of you and your children. Our goal is to give your children the BEST education possible. I'm grateful to be part of their journey.
Just a little bit about myself: I started my educational career 23 years ago as a 6th grade teacher at Windridge Elementary. I taught 18 years, after which I became an assistant principal. I have been an assistant principal at three schools, most recently at Sunburst Elementary. I have always loved school and learning.
When I’m not doing school, I love spending time with family. I especially love hanging out with my nieces and nephews. Life is just better with kids! I have 18 nieces and nephews and at any given moment you can find me fishing, hiking, biking, swimming, playing basketball, going to ballgames, or just telling them stories.
I'm looking forward to a great year! Additional information will be forthcoming concerning class lists, back-to-school night, etc.
Summer Office Hours If you need our assistance, please come to the office on Wednesdays from 9:00-1:00. One of our amazing secretaries will be here to help you. I will also be in the office, unless I am in a meeting or taking a vacation day. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out by calling 801-402-3600 or emailing me at hschulz@dsdmail.net. Our office manager is Megan Noble. Her email is mnoble@dsdmail.net. She can help you with any registration questions. | Kindergarten Registration If your child will be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2022, he or she is eligible to attend Kindergarten. Kindergarten is so important to your child's emotional and academic success in school! If you haven't done so already, please come into the office during our summer hours to get registration materials. You may also access registration by following this link (click here). Bring completed items into the school during our office hours with required documentation (driver's license, 2 proofs of residence, and original birth certificate.) If you have additional documents for child custody, please bring those, as well. | Serving on the School Community CouncilIt's time to assemble the Whitesides Community Council. Serving on our School Community Council is a great way for parents to contribute and help ensure academic performance at our school. The school receives an annual dividend from the School Land Trust. Our council decides how these funds will be used. The council reviews and prepares other academic plans for our students each year. All plans are reviewed for final approval by our school board. Councils also act in an advisory capacity to school and school district administrations.
Qualifications Every public school in Utah has a School Community Council. The councils are made up of school employees who are elected by their colleagues and parents who are elected by parents of students attending the school. Membership terms are for two years. Parents must have a student attending the school at least one of the two years of their term of service.
Time Commitment: Meet once a month for an hour meeting. Time and date to be determined by council members. Interested?: If you would like to serve on this committee, please email me with your name and phone number. |
