Liberty Parent Update
Liberty Elementary - Keller ISD
Morning Arrival
Thanks for a great first two weeks of school! It is wonderful to see everyone in the morning ready to go. Here are a couple of reminders about Morning Arrival:
Our doors open at 7:30 a.m. Students may enter the building beginning at 7:30. Please do not drop and go before this time.
Do not let your child out at the first crosswalk in the driveway. There are no adults in this area to help cross students or get them out of cars. Please have them wait in your car until you get to the crosswalk closer to the school. Look for the unloading signs to begin letting your child out of the car.
Do not make your own parking spot. This ends up blocking traffic for all who enter.
If you are crunched for time, arrive closer to 7:30. There is a steady flow from 7:30 to 7:45 each morning.
Afternoon Dismissal
Afternoon Dismissal is getting quicker each day. Here are some things to help you:
K, 1st and 2nd grade students dismiss at 2:55.
3rd and 4th grade students dismiss at 3 p.m.
If you are picking up K-2nd students, line up first. 3rd & 4th grade parents stagger your arrival time in the afternoon so you are not waiting longer than needed. A good rule of thumb would be do not arrive on campus until 10 minutes before your child's dismissal time.
Ironically, with this change and the changes in parking at CIS and on Hebert this year, we are still finished loading cars at 3:15 to 3:17 the past 8 days. This time will only improve if we all continue to work the process.
Some quick tips:
*Have your car signs ready. Either in the front for pick up or carpool in the back.
*Pull up close behind the car in front of you as you line up. This allows more cars in the drive and less cars on McDonwell School Road.
*Use the drive through lane in the front to exit quicker. Be mindful of other cars and kids…but this is a great way to pick up and go.
CHANGE FROM COLLEYVILLE PD
*Parents may park on the EAST SIDE of Hebert ONLY (side of the street furthest from Precinct Line Road). With the rule that at least 1/2 of your car must be off the roadway and you can't block driveways. We have been in discussion with the Colleyville Police Department since last week when the change was initially made. Please follow these rules so we can continue to park on this street.
*If you are parking in the shopping center across the street from Liberty and walking over, you must cross at the crosswalk with the crossing guard. Please do not risk your or your child's safety by cutting across traffic.
Below is a link of the video demonstration of this process. Thank you in advance for your help in keeping our students staff.

Morning Mile
Get ready for the start of Morning Mile! Morning Mile is a before school walking/running program designed to let students begin each day in an active, healthy and fun way. Last year, our Liberty Eagles logged 6,497 miles!
Our first day of Morning Mile will be on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the field in the back of the building. We are asking that you stop and sign in your child on the clipboards hanging on the fence each morning when you drop them off. This way we are able to keep track of the students who are attending each day.
Morning Mile is run by our wonderful parents! If you are interested in volunteering and helping a day or even multiple days, please contact Christian Weger at cwegersr@charter.net
We will post daily on the LES website at 6:30 a.m. in the calendar section to let you know when Morning Mile is on or if we have to cancel due to bad weather conditions.
