AMMS Debate Team
The AMMS Debate Team is conducted by Ivy Bridge Academy. Register online at autreymill.ivydebate.com. It is open for all grades, the meetings will be Tuesdays 4:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. in Ms. Beyer’s Room (F103). Debate helps teach critical thinking, persuasive speaking, and leadership skills. We have had very successful teams last year. We had two teams that went to the NSDA National Tournament in Dallas this past June that placed very high; out of 80 schools competing, Aalif B. and Prakhar G. placed 9th and Paris S. and Maxwell W. placed 17th. Congratulations to the AMMS Debate Team for another great year!
School Clubs and activities will be posted on the AMMS website sometime next week.
Volunteer Opportunities in the School Store
PLEASE volunteer at the school store, we have an IMMEDIATE volunteer need. The store is open every morning from 8:25 a.m. - 8:50 am. and serves a very important function for our kids! It's a short shift - we ask that you are there around 8:00 a.m. to set up, and you'll be out by 9:00 a.m. The commitment is just two mornings a month, and it's a fun and easy job!
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0c44a5ae29a02-school
It's a repeating two week schedule - this sign-up only covers the first two weeks of school and will just repeat for the rest of the year - so if you sign up for Thursday the 15th for example, your assigned shift will be *every other* Thursday... 8/15, 8/29, 9/12, etc. If you can't come in during the first week or two, but would be able to assist after that, please let me know! For more information contact Michelle Meyers, Mmeyers23ct@yahoo.com.
Thank you!

Mathematics and English Language Arts Survey
Dear Georgia Education Stakeholders,
I continue to hear questions and concerns about our K-12 standards from parents, educators, and students. Many are concerned about whether the standards are age- and developmentally appropriate, and whether they present a realistic amount of content for teachers to deliver in one year.
Along with Governor Brian Kemp, I am committed to ensuring the best possible standards in our classrooms. Today, the Georgia Department of Education is launching a survey to seek feedback on the Georgia Standards of Excellence for Mathematics and English Language Arts.
Surveys
Complete the surveys:
• Mathematics
• English Language Arts
Together with the Governor’s Office, our goal is to lead an open, collaborative process with true feedback offered by all stakeholders – including classroom teachers and other educational leaders, parents, students, business and industry, and higher education. We ask that you answer the survey questions based on your experience with the K-12 Georgia Standards of Excellence for Mathematics and ELA.
My deepest thanks for your support of Georgia’s public schools and your honest feedback.
Sincerely,
Richard Woods
State School Superintendent

Frequently Asked Questions!
A. Each grade level has 2 lost and found bins at the end of the hallways. There is also a bin in the Connection hallway and a shelf in the cafeteria. All iPads that are found are kept in the front office.
Q. What if my student forgets something and I need to bring it to school?
A. While we hope that students come prepared each day, there are 2 carts in the front office for forgotten items. Unfortunately, we are unable to call students for forgotten items. The student may pick up the item between classes or at lunch time.
Q. What if my student forgets his/her iPad?
A. Parents can drop the iPad at the front desk where we keep them until the students come to get them. It is the students' responsibility to pick them up between classes or at lunch time. Unfortunately, we are unable to call into classrooms for forgotten items.
Q. What if my child gets sick at school?
A. If your student feels sick during the school day he/she should always go to the clinic. The clinic needs to keep a record of students who are ill. Students SHOULD NOT call or text on their cell phones or smart watches for parents to pick them up.
Q. Is my child allowed to use their cell phone to call home?
A. Cell phones are not allowed to be used during school time. There is a phone in the front office if the student needs to call home. We encourage students to come prepared to school each day, thus the phone is for emergencies only.
Q. Where do I turn in student attendance notes?
A. If your student is out of school, there needs to be a signed note sent into the front office within 5 days of being absent. Please do not send emails to the teacher.
Q. Do I need my ID when checking out my student?
A. Please be prepared to show your ID when checking out your student. This is for the safety of our students, faculty and staff.
Q. What if my students needs medication at school?
A. Students are not allowed to carry medications with them at school unless they have a permission form (SHS-2) signed and on file in the clinic. This includes prescription and over the counter medications of any kind.
Q. What time is the school store open?
A. The school store is open from 8:30 a.m. to 8:55 a.m. each day.
Q. What time are students allowed into the school in the morning?
A. The school opens at 7:45 a.m.
Q. Do I need to call the front office if my student is sick for the day?
A. You DO NOT need to call the front office if a student is out sick. Upon returning to school. send a note to the front office and the attendance will be adjusted.
Q. What if my child comes to school late?
A. Parents DO NOT need to bring children in if they are late. Students DO have to report to the office to get a pass to their classroom.
Q. Are students allowed to leave the building without checking out?
A. A parent MUST always come to the front office to check students out of school. This is for the safety of the student. If someone else is checking your student out they must be on the contact list or a note must be sent in with the student in the morning. Always be prepared to show your ID.
Fall Musical Auditions
We are happy to announce that this year’s Fall musical will be Aladdin, Jr. We will be rehearsing at Autrey Mill but will transfer the production for final rehearsals to our performance venue at Johns Creek High School. All students wishing to audition or participate in crew should visit the drama room for an audition packet. Students that wish to audition for a role should sign up for an audition time on the Aladdin board outside the Drama classroom A151. It is imperative that parents review the conflict sheet and understand the roles and responsibilities of cast, crew and parent volunteers.
Additional information about the production and rehearsal schedule can be found on the Google classroom for Aladdin code gtpz406 or on the website http://www.autreymillchorus.com/drama-dept.html.
August 26th-August 29th - Fall Musical Auditions by appointment (see drama call board)
August 30th - Musical Audition Callbacks - please check list posted on the 29th to see if you should attend.
Student Checkout Procedures
In an effort to avoid interrupting instructional time with the intercom, students need to bring a note designating the time that they should meet you in the front office. Notes should be brought to the front office in the morning for authorization. The signed note will allow your child to leave class at the designated time and meet you in the front office. If students do not have a note we will not call them to the office until parents are at the school to sign them out. (for example, we cannot call them out of class when you call from your car) For this reason, you may experience delays if your child does not have a note giving prior notification of early dismissal.
Your cooperation with our check in/out procedure will help keep classroom interruptions to a minimum and will get your on your way in a timely manner.
Forgotten Items
Please remind your children of this procedure! Thank you!
