Home & Habitat
The Mountain Plover nests in low vegetation areas also known as Prairie Dog Fields. The Plover lives in the plains and the Rocky Mountain states. All the way from the Canadian border to the northern parts of Mexico.
The Family
Eggs
The female Plover incubates her eggs for 28-31 days.
Babies
The baby usually leaves the nest after 33-36 days after they hatch.
Mates
The female Plover has one to around eight mates in its lifetime. In July the female leaves the male and wanders off.
Why It's Endangered
The Mountain Plover is endangered because of habitat loss in the plains. Forest fires are not a favorite for the Plover. The chopping down down of fields for agriculture is not good for the Plover
