Nazareth Christian Fellowship
Offerings for the week of April 21
Chaplain Chat at 2 today (Wednesday)
This week has been one full of really wonderful conversations: one-on-ones, retreats, worship, and interfaith conversations around how we are coping with this new reality. I'm grateful for opportunities to be with you all virtually. The longer our individual quarantines go on, the more issues might come up for us. You might be feeling like you have even less energy, like you have less drive and motivation. Because every day feels the same. What's the point? Maybe you are finally working through a stack of books you've been meaning to read, or you're crossing things of your to-do list and you feel super productive. Maybe these long days spent in isolation are exacerbating some pre-existing mental health diagnoses. Maybe you don't have a diagnosis but you're starting to wonder if you're okay.
However you are feeling is valid. However you find yourself responding to this strange and difficult season is valid. Those feelings make sense. Some people are generally experiencing a sense of peace and rest right now. Others are finding it hard to get out of bed, dreading each new day of more of the same. Some are finding joy in this time. Others are sad, listless, maybe even depressed. Maybe you're having some weird quarantine dreams. (https://www.nationalgeographic.com/science/2020/04/coronavirus-pandemic-is-giving-people-vivid-unusual-dreams-here-is-why/).
If I have named something you are experiencing, or if you are feeling something entirely different, you aren't alone. As we seek to minimize the toll of COVID-19 for our neighbors and communities we do need to spend a lot more time alone or with the same house of people. But if my conversations this week have taught me anything, it's that we are going through this together. In our own ways, in our own places of residence, with our own particular challenges. But we are going through it together. If you need to talk, I'm here. And I would bet there are others willing to talk too, right now. Because if there ever was a time when we needed each other--needed the body of Christ, the church,--it's now.
You are all in my prayers. Until we meet again,
Nadia
