Advantages
•Elections are not necessary
•Leader is more focused on running the country because they do not need to worry about losing the election and popularity.
Disadvantages
•People do not have the freedom to vote for the leader that believe is best for them.
•A single person takes leadership of the country for as long as he/she lives. Therefore, the population has no power to remove the leader if he/she is NOT meeting the needs of the population.
Example
•Saudi Arabia is a monarchy based on Islam. The government is headed by the king, who is also the commander in chief of the military.
•Monarchy in Saudi Arabia began in the 18th century and is still the type of government that runs there to date.
