Room 3 Class News
Sept 18-21
Hi families,
We did lots with apples this week! We learned about the parts of an apple and read fun apple stories. Students made their own paper apples using fine motor skills. Our rhyme was 1,2 Buckle My Shoe. Below I have also attached our circle song that students have been working so hard to learn.
Please join us tonight for open house! Your child has art work they can't wait to show you. This is a time to look around your child's classroom and let them show you their favorite centers/activities to do throughout the day.
Have a great weekend,
Katie Schmidt
Fun Friday
Table Time
- Putting beads on a pipe cleaner (students fill a pipe cleaner with pony beads)
- Lacing cards (weaving the shoe lace in and out to fill the card)
- Hole punching (students have a hand held hole puncher and can make a design on paper)
- Ripping Paper (this may seem easy, but is a rather difficult task for little hands)
I bought the materials needed for table time at the dollar store in case you are interested in doing these at home. They are easy to set up and effective. I will share more ideas as the year continues.
Social Emotional Learning: Self Talk
- Trying to remember a task given ("Time to clean up" or "put my coat on")
- Focus attention ("Eyes on teacher")
- Keep doing a task ("Put the blocks away")
- Control his or her body ("calm body" or "hands to self")
Self talk is another tool to help your child block out distractions and continue learning.
