Halloween Costumes at School

October, 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Please note that students are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes to school on Wednesday, October 31. However, if you choose to send your child to school with a costume, it must not include play weapons, depict violence, horror, or inappropropriate themes. Students may not wear masks or anything that covers a majority of their face, or temporary hair coloring that would drip onto skin if it were wet. No fake blood is allowed. Costumes must allow students to walk safely and not impede vision or hearing. We are not responsible for any damage or lost props of a costume that is worn at school. You may need to consider to modify your student’s costume for school appropriateness and safety. If your student has PE on this day, They will be expected to participate in regular PE games.

Of course, wearing a costume is a personal choice. If your student would prefer not to wear a costume, but still be a part of the school spirit, we encourage students to wear Parker Whitney Spiritwear.

Halloween celebrations will be left up to each individual classroom. If you wish to help your student’s teacher with a party, please contact them directly. If you wish for your student not to participate in any Halloween celebrations, please contact the teacher for celebration time in the class.

Once the holiday is over, please limit the amount of candy your student brings in their lunch or for the school snack. It is harder for our students to stay focused when they are overloaded on sugar. Thank you for your support and help in maintaining a productive learning environment.
