Raising Cane's Night
Join Our Fundraiser at Raising Cane's!
https://www.raisingcanes.com/fundraiser/Montclair-PTO-Fundraiser
Just mention the fundraiser at the register, and Cane's will donate 15% of sales to Montclair Elementary.
This is such an easy way to raise money and give you a night off from cooking. Your kids will love Raising Cane's chicken fingers, fries and lemonade. (Yum, you will too!)
Our food nights have already funded teacher requests and brought in hundreds of dollars for the school. Let's keep it up, Montclair families!

Math Mentors
Calling all family members of Montclair Students! This year we are excited to add Montclair Math Mentors to our daily schedule in addition to Watch Dogs. Montclair Math Mentors ARE open to any adult family member of a Montclair student. Mentors would be assisting students across grade levels with Math based activities.
Some of these activities might be flash cards, playing math games, helping students with math games. You do not need to be a math whiz to participate. We will not make you teach math lessons. : )
Mentors would also be involved in helping in the library, workroom, and lunch room.
Ideally, we would like to have a math mentor at Montclair from 8:30-3:30 every day. However, please let us know if you would like to come for a 1/2 day too!
Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Please sign up at least ONE week in advance. Thank you!

Montclair Community Center: Trunk or Treat
If you could get word out to your parents that After the Bell will end at 5 pm on 10/29 so we can be ready for Trunk or Treat at 5:30, that would be wonderful. Also, the majority of our parking lot and the Masonic Temple lot will be blocked off all day for set up.
All are welcome and we are looking forward to a really fun night!

A note from Mrs. Dischler, the school counselor
September 2019
Dear Parent/Guardian,
This month our classroom counseling lessons in grades K-5 will focus on skills of resiliency, coping and how to get help for oneself and/or a friend if needed. These lessons are intended to educate students on feelings of stress, worry, sadness, how to cope with such feelings and how to ask for help if needed.
Students will identify coping strategies and trusted adults at school and outside of school to whom they can go for help. Any student who has difficulty identifying coping strategies and/or adults who can help will receive a follow up visit with the school counselor to determine if any additional steps are necessary.
Please talk with your child about these feelings, and reinforce appropriate coping strategies such as talking with a trusted adult, exercising, positive self-talk or doing an activity they enjoy. Modeling appropriate reactions to stress and feelings of sadness in your own life and then talking with your child about you handle it in a healthy way can also help to empower your child to make healthy choices.
Please contact Terry Dischler at tadischler@mpsomaha.org with any questions! Thank you for your continued partnership in helping to ensure your child has a successful school year!
Sincerely,
Terry Connor Dischler, M.S., NCC, LMHP
