Why did Texans hate Carpetbaggers and the Reconstruction
Texans hated them because they were northerners who came into the south to gain profit from the misfortune of the people.
Carpetbagger
A Carpetbagger was a Northerner who moved to the South after the American Civil War, especially during the Reconstruction. In order to profit from the instability and power vacuum that existed at this time.
Reconstruction
This generally refers to the period in United States history immediately following the Civil War in which the federal government set the conditions that would allow the rebellious Southern states back into the Union.
