Decatur Middle School
Week of September 12th -23rd
Parents and families,
We have reached the midpoint of the first nine weeks. Progress reports went out this past Friday. We are working hard to improve instruction and get the very best performance from our students. Things that you can do to help support student learning: be sure that your student is present and on time, check in with them about their school work, check grades on the PowerSchool Portal, and as always, call or email us if you have questions, concerns, or would like to have a parent/teacher conference.
We are continuing to ask our students and staff to be in right place, at the right time, doing the right thing. Please help us support this. Please remind your children how important it is to be respectful to others, to be mindful of their role and duties, and to take ownership in their educational experience. This is OUR school. EVERY child, parent, and employee is a vital component in the success of OUR school. Please take part and reach out to us if you have questions and concerns.
I hope that this newsletter, which we try to make available every 2 weeks, will be useful to you for planning purposes and to have some insight into school happenings! Thank you for your support of DMS! Go Raiders!
Special Announcement: We have been made aware of a recent trend on social media where students create accounts using school names and logos that are designed to poke fun at classmates. We are actively working on removing these accounts and identifying those responsible. The school’s position regarding these accounts is as follows: Unauthorized creation of, or impersonation of, a school social media account is prohibited. This includes the use of any school name or logo. The use of any social media to harass, humiliate, or intimidate students is considered cyber bullying/harassment, and as such, will be thoroughly investigated and could result in disciplinary action. Please take some time to discuss the proper use of social media with your student, and as always, please reach out to us if you have any additional information or concerns.
