Bowling Green High School has named Scott Gural as the Boys Head Soccer Coach. The school hosted a press conference on Thursday, March 31, 2016, to make the announcement.

Principal Will King said, “Since the opening of our head coach position, we’ve taken our time to find an individual to lead the soccer program and continue the rich history and tradition of Bowling Green High School.”

Gural has developed soccer programs at both the high school and collegiate level. Previously a coach at Greenwood High School, he led teams to four consecutive regional titles and played for the state title in 2009. He currently coaches in the SKY Soccer Club and in his spare time, has coached for the state of Kentucky’s Olympic Soccer Development Program.

Mr. Gural is an accomplished Language Arts teacher and has also been hired in the BGHS English Department. He will begin teaching responsibilities in BGISD for the 2016-17 school year.

In speaking about Gural, King said, “We believe he will maintain the rigor, intensity, and excellence our students, parents, players, and school have come to expect on a daily basis, both in the classroom and as head coach of our boys Soccer program.”

Congratulations, Mr. Gural, and welcome to Bowling Green City Schools.

BGHS one of eight schools in the state to partner with the KY Center for the Arts Anne Frank & Eva Schlos Project

Big image

As one of only eight Kentucky schools chosen to be a partner school in the Kentucky Center for the Art's Anne Frank & Eva Schlos Project, BGHS students were able to hear from Jeffery Jamner as he shared how his parents survived the Holocaust. The project centers around teaching students by integrating English, History, Performing Arts, and multiple mediums of art.

Students from Mrs. Skillern's, Ms. Croney's, and Mrs. Fatkins's classes have studied literature from the Holocaust, and reflected on what each individual's role in society is and to what extent we should be responsible for the well being of other citizens. The culmination of their studies and self-reflection allowed students to find and articulate their own "This I Believe..." essays coupled with artistic icons that represent their own stories. The icons, along with an artist statements will be on display soon at BGHS.
