The Mustang Round Up!

September Update

Monthly Update

Our 2022-2023 school year is off and running! Melba Elementary Staff members are busy teaching the Mustang routines and procedures to our students. We are already hard at work starting our curriculum and gathering all of our assessment information. It has been fun to see our new Kindergarteners learn how to walk through the hallways and make their way through the lunch lines. Our sixth graders are transitioning into their modified junior high schedule and learning how to attend multiple classes in one day. Lots of progress already happening!

We are excited to work with you this school year. Please do not hesitate to contact us throughout this year for any questions or concerns you may have. Our teachers have sent invites out to you to join either Class DoJo, Seesaw, or another mode of communication. Please make sure that you have joined these communication programs. Both Class DoJo and Seesaw allow teachers to communicate with you quickly and share pictures as well as student work.

I cannot wait to see everything that we accomplish this year! It is going to be a great year! I am so thankful to be the Melba Elementary School principal and work alongside such an amazing community and staff. Go Mustangs!

No School Monday, September 5th for Labor Day. Don't forget to mark your calendars!

Mustangs SHINE!

We will be continuing our schoolwide focus of "Mustangs SHINE" this school year in conjunction with our theme of "Team Melba: Better Together!" Students are already focusing on the "S" in SHINE which stands for shows responsibility and are receiving stars on a daily basis when they are caught being responsible. Please be sure to talk to your child each day about the different ways they demonstrated responsibility at school and begin brainstorming great ways to demonstrate responsibility at home as well.

The grade level at the end of September with the most stars collected will earn a party. Let's see who the winner is going to be!

Better Together!

In conjunction with our Mustang SHINE program, we will be focusing on our overall school theme of "Better Together!" Our leadership team has been working hard to develop fun activities for both our students and our staff to participate in that are geared towards our school goal of unification! We truly believe that every member of our Melba Family is important and a vital piece to our success. We know that it takes every person to help us reach our vision and goals.

Our vision for Melba Elementary School reads, " Empowering Learners to be Better Each Day!" Every day, every student, every staff member will work hard to do their very best and make that progress that is necessary to be successful. We are committed to identifying one another's strengths and providing the supports to each other through positive relationships towards achievement.

Each month, we are going to showcase some fun moments we have had working together for success. For the month of August, we had a very special moment as a school. One of our first grade students lost their cochlear device on the playground while at recess. Our fourth, fifth, and sixth graders eagerly jumped in to help us. They devoted their lunch recess to the search by lining up shoulder to shoulder and scouring the playground. It was such a great moment to see over 200 students working together to help one of their Mustang family members. I am so proud of them and the people they are becoming. Here is a little snapshot of our search!

Better Together-Safety Discussion

Our kindergarten students had the opportunity to come together with our SRO, Officer Lowber. He created a fun opportunity for our students to meet with him, develop a positive relationship, and learn the safety components to our school. The kindergarteners loved it!
