FMS Counseling: Mrs. Crawford, Mrs. Horstmeier & Ms. Jo
Contacting Counselors after schools out
If you have any questions about next years schedules, classes or just have a question Mrs. Crawford and Mrs. Horstmeier will both be in the office through May 29th and will return on August 1st.
Needing to see the school counselor?
Students needing to access the counselor's office can submit a form from their chrome books by clicking on the apps button. This form comes only to the counselor's. If you have any questions or need help finding the form refer to the email that was sent from Mrs. Horstmeier. You can also ask your teacher for help.If you can't locate the form you can also shoot your school counselor an email. Obviously if there is an emergency, students will be sent to the Counselors Office immediately. This is just a great way to help students stay in the classroom for instruction time.
Here are a few ways you can reach out to us in the FMS Counseling Office:
Mrs. Horstmeier works with students with a last name starting with an A-J and can be reached at shorstmeier@fulton58.org and Mrs. Crawford works with students with a last name starting with a K-Z and can be reached at mcrawford@fulton58.org
Ms. Jo is the Counseling Office secretary and can be reached at jwilliamson@fulton58.org.
Counseling Office phone number is 573-590-8208

AFTER SCHOOL CHOIR aka HARMONY HORNETS
What a wonderful turn out for our final concert! Thank you for a wonderful evening of music!
MUSIC 6
We had a great week in Music 6. We practiced music notation by adding rests to our discussion sessions. We also played more singing games, and began working on our new project: Pop Star vs Rap Star! Students will have the opportunity to write their own song or rap that teaches about notes and rests!
Next week, we will play lots of music games, and celebrate all we have learned together!

News from the Art Room
As we are racing towards the end of the year, we are in hyper focus to finalize objectives for all grades. The next few weeks we will stay on course, and each grade level will be finalizing certain projects and revisiting past objectives. With Field trips and incentives we are always frazzled towards the end of the year to pack it all in, but we will no doubt make it together!
6th Grade:
We are working on our Torn Paper Animal Portraits with is Objective ELO2: Students will use subject matter and themes in artwork.
We will then shift into our watercolor demonstration and practice, which will be a short lesson in using opaque application of paint. This will cap off the year and Object ELO 1 : Select and apply media techniques and processes
7th Grade
Students are working hard to finish up their comic book covers where they created their very own super hero, or villain, and created their own comic book cover.
This was covered in Objective ELO 4 Students explain the connections between art and the world around them.
We discussed the many processes of comic book creations and the different creative connections in the process.
Students will cap off the year with printmaking unit, which they will revisit ELO 1 Students will select and apply media techniques and process.
We will explore the printmaking process, prepare print plates and pull prints in the process.
8th Grade:
Students will begin the final series of project called the Tree Trilogy, I am trying to change this up a little this year with some new techniques and process, but they will create a variety of media exploration and techniques to create positive and negative space using trees as a main subject.
Objective ELO 2 Students will use subject matter and themes in Art
Art Club will meet one last time on May 1st
As always, please contact me at cchapman@fulton58.org if you have any questions or concerns.

The FMS Thrive Hive
The Fulton Middle School Thrive Hive opened for business on Monday, August 21st. The store is open 7:25 to 7:45 each morning. If students aren't able to shop then they can email Mrs. Horstmeier @ shortmeier@fulton58.org or Mrs. Yates @ hyates@fulton58.org for an appointment to shop.
The Thrive Hive is designed to allow students to use their Hornet Bucks--earned through the Positive Behavior Support Program--to purchase items from the store. The Thrive Hive was created to help the needs of the FMS Student Community.
Items currently needed for the store are:
Any age appropriate toys, DVD's for the holidays.
As we gear up for winter: Hats, gloves, scarves, and coats.
Snack items: Nutella snack packs, Slim jims and pop tarts.
Other needs are ear buds and water bottles.
We will be gearing up for the holiday season so baskets to make gift packages for students to purchase would be great.
All other items are appreciated as well.
If you would like to donate, please call Fulton Middle School at 573-590-8200.

Mrs. Jessica Lairmore
The Library is closed for the year, but if you still have books that need to be returned, please bring them as soon as possible.
For the Summer you can read books online! Check out this app for your phone, tablet, and computer called Hoopla! You can check out books, music, and movies for FREE just by having a Library Card with Daniel Boone Regional Library.
THE MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS!
Throughout the summer you can still send me pictures of what you are up to. If you read a great book, you can do a book talk with your phone. You can always email it to me over summer. You don't even have to show your face if you don't want to. You can just record your voice or use a fun filter.
Other ideas for books talks:
Create a Powtoon.
Draw a picture and talk about it.
Create a CoSpace for a book character.
Record a video with a fun filter and email it to me.
Read a poem.
Talk about your favorite character, or your least favorite character.
Show us your favorite place your read (maybe you like to read with your pet on your lap).
AND.....We don't have to show book talks all the time. You can share interesting facts about your favorite animal, favorite athlete, maybe you play an instrument, maybe you are an awesome cook, do you volunteer for something, going on vacation, etc..
The possibilities are endless!
Email me with what you got.
Just remember to keep you video less than 2 minutes long, the shorter the better!
See what's happening in the Library on Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter. You might even see yourself on there!
See you in the Library!
