Bilbo has woken up from a fall into a dark cave of some sort. It's so dark bilbo can't see.. He uses his hands by feeling the wall he eventually finds something. Bilbo finds a golden ring on the floor and he puts it in his pocket. He then finds a cave pond and also a creature named gollum or my precious. Bilbo tells him to show him the way out but gollum wants to eat Bilbo. Gollum likes riddles so he asks Bilbo to a riddle off. Bilbo agrees and wins this. But gollum runs to go find the golden ring but he can't find it so it blames Bilbo for stealing it and tries to kill him. Bilbo runs back into the caves and acadently puts the ring on and gollum walks right past him and that's when Bilbo finds out that the ring turns you invisible. Bilbo follows gollum thinking that he will lead him to the exit of the cave. Gollum leads him to the exit but he did not mean to.. gollum is on the floor crying and yelling because Bilbo stole his ring (his addiction). Bilbo escapes and leaves with the ring.

Gollum is described as a small man that has little hair and very skinny. Bilbo says that his eyes are huge and you can see them in the dark..

Gollums addiction to the ring

The Ring, which Gollum referred to as "my precious" or "precious", extended his life far beyond natural limits. Centuries both the Ring's influence twisted Gollum's body and mind. he had "come to love and hate the Ring, just as he loved and hated himself." Throughout the story Gollum was torn between his lust for the Ring and his desire to be free of it. Bilbo Baggins found the Ring and took it for his own and Gollum afterwards pursued it for the rest of his life. There for he represents corruption.
