Savage or Saint?
Within each of us there lies tendencies that are in our best interests and otherwise. On any given day depending on circumstance or impulse we behave as savage or saint. Fortunately, the distiller wisdom of years allows us to grow and feed the side that loves and supports a wholesome living and a benevolent community. It's not that the other side is gone it just doesn't have the resources or behaviors to grow and feed itself. I believe this is true for most people and I am grateful to those choosing to commit to their best self and make the world a better place. It's pretty simple really, if everyone on the planet behaved the way you did today would it be better off?
In The Know
Staff Orientation Checklists a.k.a. Back to School Memo - If you have not yet submitted your signed Back to School Memo these are past due. Please bring/send your signed form to the front office (Robin Francisco) as soon as possible. We will make personal contact with you next week if you have not yet signed your form. I need to submit these to HR next week. Thank you.
Smart Goals: Be sure to submit your SMART goals. School-wide we are at 18 of 54 teachers who have submitted their goals. This is 34% complete on goals being submitted. It is important to turn these in even if you don't have your baseline data yet. For example if you planned on beginning your pre-assessment in 2nd trimester, go ahead and submit your goal. It does lock the goal down and prohibits reopening, but we have been advised by the district that these can easily be reopened. You just need to let us know so that we can reopen it for you. If you need help or assistance please let us know as we very much want to be helpful with this. oals are required to be entered by
Federal Education Rights to Privacy Act - FERPA: Please be extra judicious/cautious when using printers or sending print jobs that contain student records or student information. These are federally protected documents and must be handled with complete confidentiality. If we handle records casually we run the risk of casualty. Any IEP, 504, grade, demographic information, contact information, or personal information about a student, etc. is considered private to each student. We are stewards of this information and must handle it with exacting care. Thanks for keeping an eye on this. It is a big system and mistakes happen. We just need to keep our focus. Thanks for your understanding.
Flag at Half Mast - We receive announcements from the Governor when the flag is ordered to be at half mast. As we move forward in the future when these announcements come to us from the governor, we will forward these to staff so that you are aware of exactly why the flag has been lowered. Additionally, we will add a brief comment in the student announcements so that students know accurately and precisely why the flag has been lowered.
Student Teacher Placements: Please let me know if you are interested in having student teachers in your classrooms this winter and spring, and I can make arrangements with Human Resources. Any and all student requests for observation, practicum, or student teaching must be made formally through Human Resources (Rob Hess). University students or other interested parties are not allowed to create their own schedule or arrangements. Going forward, the district would like to make sure student teacher placement has administrative approval and support.
