KHS BandOn Tuesday of last week the KHS Varsity and Jazz Band held a concert on the campus of KHS! Looking and sounding good!!! Directors: Mr. Murdoch Mr. Rokohl | In the Holiday Spirit! As I was walking the hallways after school, I stumbled upon this group of students having a small gathering to decorate ornaments! Mrs. Humphries organized this cool event. Students were able to decorate ornaments for their family tree. The sound of holiday music along with hot cider and chocolate made it a great experience! | Coach Cotton will put you out!!! Just Kidding!!! I am sure we've all seen Coach Cotton's students in the hallway. This particular day, they were working on an assignment that allowed them to create a visual representing a certain time in history. Students were engaged (as if they had a choice....you see Coach Cotton's stance)..he means business!!! |

KHS Basketball serving the community! After four exciting games of basketball Friday night (Varsity and 10th grade defeated Oak Ridge), Saturday morning the boys volunteered their time at The Great Commission Church. While there, they stuffed socks with toiletries for the homeless. Dr. Tyrone Sylvester, pastor wrote to me stating "I am very pleased that the coaches are training great young men and teaching them life-long lessons in character". I am so proud when our students serve the community! | Congratulations Tray Williams! On Wednesday of last week coaches and administrators joined the family of Tray Williams at the Houston Touchdown Association Banquet. Tray was a nominee for the Texas High School Offense Football player of the year. Pictured is Tray and his immediate family. We are so proud of his accomplishments. Tray is also our student of the month and will be recognized at Tuesday's board meeting. Please wish him well as he is preparing to attend Texas A&M University in January! | EOC Mentor I want to thank each of you for mentoring a student during the EOC tutorials and testing last week. Throughout the week, I witnessed mentors giving their mentees cards and snacks for the test! This makes me so proud as the principal of this campus! There are some great people working at KHS and although it may not always feel like it, our students appreciate you! I am hoping for stellar results. |

Weekly Announcements
1. Campus security and student safety are always important but particularly important for this week. Make sure you are in the hallways encouraging students to move on to class. You are also expected to be on SMART lunch duty. Remember, this is a campus procedural violation if you are not present.
2. This is final exam week. Please adhere to the schedule emailed by Mrs. Dockray. Consideration for San Jac dual credit students will need to be given this week as well. Please minimize the amount of students sent out of your classroom. We are monitoring the hallways very closely so help us maintain order. Do not send students out the first and last 15 minutes of the period.
3. On Friday, December 18, 2015, the Athletics Department will provide lunch for us. This is an annual tradition and we are so thankful. Details are soon to follow.
4. Please check the campus calendar this week. We have concerts and athletic events. I am sure our students would love to see you there! Come out and support.
5. During the winter break the building will be closed except for special events that have been scheduled. Please do not enter the building for any reason unless you have been authorized. Deputies will be patrolling the district facilities and will treat any un-scheduled occurrence as a break in. Thank you for your cooperation in advance.
6. The district web-master will be checking for teacher website updates. This is your final request to get this done.
7. I know you may not want to think this far but when we return in January, there will be no SMART lunch the first week of school. Students will have advisory lessons. I am working to finalize the new bell schedule mentioned during our staff meeting. Remember, we will likely reduce SMART lunch by ten minutes and add those minutes to first period and mid-morning announcements before lunch. When it is final and approved, I will let you know.
