Cowboy Courier
August 22, 2019
Thank you for being present and engaged in grade level meetings yesterday!
I have loved being in classrooms this week. Our students seem happy and they are settling into our routines.
I am happy to announce that our school is being recognized with 4 distinctions this year! These distinctions include:
Academic Achievement in ELAR
Academic Achievement in Science
Top 25%:Comparative Academic Growth
Postsecondary Readiness:Percentage of students 6-8 at Meets Grade Level or Above in both reading and math.
Distinctions are determined by grouping our school with 39 other demographically similar schools across the state. School are ranked based on performance. The top quartile of schools in each grouping earn distinctions. Academic performance is measured based on mastery level scores on STAAR for core content distinctions. Attendance is also considered in some distinctions. I want to note that Math performance was high enough to earn the distinction, but our attendance rate was not high enough to earn the final criteria for the distinction. I will review this more with the leadership team at our next meeting so more details can be shared with everyone. Too much for a Courier. :)
TEA has also released our campus rating letter grade, and we officially earned an "A". While these ratings may not mean much to us because we are here for kids, not ratings, we need to celebrate this recognition because our community does see these ratings published and they take pride in being part of a school that sets such high standards of excellence.
Great job, everyone!

Hi Ms. Spinnato,
I hope your year is off to a good start!
Thank you for taking the time to build out the A/V class Canvas site (my daughter is in your class)! I haven't spent a lot of time in the past on Canvas because there isn't often a lot of material. But I got this grade notification so I took a peek...and I am blown away with all the resources and homework assignments posted already. It makes understanding the class expectations and knowing my daughter's progress so much easier. I'll be sure to log in often.
Best,
Happy Parent
Mrs. Stanley,
Thank you for this information. I appreciate the kindness you showed our child yesterday, when his tummy was hurting. I picked him up early from the nurses office. Thanks again …..he said you are very nice & he already really likes your class.
Sincerely, Happy Parent
Coach McNeil – Thank you for “calling” me from your CREED class earlier this week when your student had a question! Loved it! Made my day!! - Machost
I wanted to let you know how amazing Cortney Williams is. She came in to an extremely challenging situation last year, and from day one she dove in ready to help whenever and however she could. When you see her working with our kiddos, you can see the genuine love that she has for them. For me, she makes even the toughest days unbelievably fun. I am so glad that she she is part of our team! -Brandi Ramirez
