Community Building: Choose Kindness

November 13 is World Kindness Day! We are constantly prompting one another at school to Be Kind. Talk as a family about how to choose kindness in various situations. Be intentional and plan something to spread kindness on November 13.

Important Information

We only have 8 weeks until our next long break from school!

  • The weather has been strangely cool for October. Please be sure students are dressed to be outside. We will go out for recess whenever we can, so they will need jackets/coats, pants, hats, and gloves in the coming weeks.
  • We get 180 school days with students, and there is so much to learn and do. Please make every effort to get your child to school each day. As cold and flu season approaches, remind them of good handwashing habits, be sure they are getting plenty of rest, and show that school is a priority by taking measures so they can benefit from our short time with them. If a child must be out for medical reasons, please provide a doctor's note to certify any absences.
  • Our mornings are getting darker, so please be sure students walking or riding bikes to school are aware of how to travel safely. If you are traveling by car, please take extra time and precautions to watch out for students coming to school.
  • We will hold our Scholastic Book Fair the week of Nov 28. This is a great time to stock your home libraries, shop for holiday gifts, and support our classroom libraries. More info to follow.
  • Christmas Programs - SAVE THE DATEs: December 6 for PreK-2nd grade; December 8 for grades 3-5. Doors will open at 6:45. Programs will begin at 7:00. Please note that 6th grade programs are handled through Western Boone Jr/Sr High for students who elect to take band or choir.

Visitors & Volunteers

We are excited to welcome parent volunteers and visitors for special events. We ask that visitors arrive after 8:15 to allow us to get through arrival and secure the building, before opening up the sign-in stations. We will not have visitors join students for lunch, as no visitors will be permitted in the cafeteria during meal times. Please note that all volunteers and visitors to the school must check in with a driver's license or government-issued identification each time they visit. Volunteers will need to complete a criminal background check prior to helping with classrooms or attending field trips. Regular volunteers will still need their identification prior to entry each time they visit. Don't leave home without it!
