About your Vocabulary Assignment (Tier 1)
Reading the assigned pages in your book, and completing the vocabulary associated with the unit is ESSENTIAL to your success in Science! I am always excited when I see a student really get involved and CARE about their work. I am so proud of all of you who take the time to do a good job on your definitions and sketches for the vocabulary. These students do amazing work and I am so proud of them! I am looking to feature as many of you as want to be "showcased" in our class newsletter, so let me know if you have something to share!
Daria "DD"
As a teacher, I see a student who cares about the quality of her work. This work is neat and looks "fun". If I were studying for a test, I would enjoy looking at this notebook! The neatness makes it visually appealing. By highlighting individual words, she can easily find a word she is looking for on the list. Great work, Daria!
Grace P.
Grace clearly spent sufficient time on this assignment to make her words "stand out". Her work is neat and her sketches are accurate and neatly done. I don't know for sure, but I think if Grace didn't quite know what to draw for a word, she would use the Internet or her book to be sure that she understands what the word means.
Hayley B.
Hayley always puts 110% into her work! I am consistently impressed by her work ethic and her attention to detail. I can tell at a glance that Hayley cares about being her best, and this attention to her school work is certainly going to pay off in the long run. I know I will see great things from Hayley long after sixth grade has come and gone!
On Topic--Sites to Help you Learn!
Weathering, Erosion, and Deposition
Watch this YouTube video to learn the difference between weathering, erosion, and deposition. With a partner, think of a way that you could remember the differences and be ready to share your ideas in class. Can you come up with a rap or song to help others learn the difference?
Frost Wedging: How it Works
In this video, you will see an experiment to see how ice can act as an agent to break apart rocks. Try this experiment at home if you can and share your results with our class!
Landforms of the United States
Use this interactive site to learn more about landforms of the United States. As you explore, use vis-a-vis markers to draw symbols to represent the various landforms on an actual U.S. map. I have the maps in class, so ask me and I will give you one! Let's see who actually is reading this newsletter!
