Parent Meeting Questions and Answers
We were very pleased with the turnout at the parent meeting this week. We covered a lot of ground, but there are still questions lingering. We will be responding to questions and updating you when more information is provided. This week we are focusing on the following:
1. Will Middle School have a Resource each day of the week?
We are currently working on the Middle School schedules, trying to fit in all core classes and specials. We make every attempt to provide a resource period to 6-8 students, but we cannot guarantee every day just yet.
2. Are we able to receive a student schedule ahead of the start date?
Sure! Schedules will be finalized over the summer, and we are happy to send parents a copy of their child's schedule in August.
3. Will Middle School have lockers?
We are planning to give middle schoolers lockers again next year, eliminating the always overflowing gray baskets that line our downstairs hallways. However, as an added safety feature next year, we are going to lock the doors to the lower level, so students still won't be permitted to go to their lockers at any given time throughout the day. They will put their backpacks/lunches away, then bring classroom items downstairs to their desks/cubbies. When they go upstairs for art, gym, and Spanish, however, they can stop at lockers if necessary, and obviously on their way to lunch they will be able to stop there, as well.
4. Is the discipline section of the handbook up-to-date?
There will be modifications made to the handbook to address student due process which is not fully explained in the handbook. Families will receive the notice when the revisions are made.
There were a number of questions that were directed toward Home & School, such as volunteerism. These will be forwarded to them so that they may answer. Also, if you did not attend the meeting nor watched the recording, one of the changes being implemented in the fall is the implementation of a standard dress. A committee is being formed that will decide on clothing options, and information will be forthcoming as details are known.
Thank you for your questions! We will provide more updates next week.
SCRIP Infomercial Update
Filming the infomercial went great! With children being in other classrooms (and lots of tests going on), your child may have been missed.
