Since the beginning of the year, we have collected a lot of lost clothing and other items. The items are on display in our cafeteria, but we are running out of space. All items not claimed by November 30 will be donated to a local charity. Please remind your children to look through our lost items and claim anything that is theirs.

During this two month period, we will also welcome Mr. John Taylor to Parkland MS as Visiting Principal. Currently, he is Principal of Winston Churchill High School. He will take the lead on 7th grade administrative duties during his time with us.

The PTSA recently awarded a grant to the Parkland Chapter of the National Junior Honors Society (NJHS). Registration for the upcoming middle school athletics winter season (boys’ and girls’ basketball) will be submitted through the ParentVue Portal, opening on October 31, 2022. Students should complete their pre-participation physical (MCPS Form SR-8) so that the medical eligibility form (last page of SR-8) is ready for online submission via the ParentVue Portal or for email submission to the local school athletic coordinator, prior to tryouts/practices. This form is valid for two years from the date of the exam and covers participation for all sports within that time period. This form must be completed and/or on file before a student-athlete can participate. A Winter sports tryouts/practices begin December 6, 2022
