Wolf Call Weekly
10/4/21-10/8/21
Welcome to this week!
HELLO WOLF PACK STUDENTS AND FAMILIES,
We hope this message finds you well and that your school year is going well!
In an effort to continue improving communication to our families and community of West Hills High School, we are using a new format of our daily bulletin which includes weekly, informative messages and announcements. Students and families will still receive messages from the school with specific announcements, things to remember, and highlights of which to be aware of. The West Hills website will include a page that will host current and previous reports as a resource. (Info, Wolf Call Weekly) We encourage your participation as an active reader of these communications that will help bridge our communication between WHHS and Students & Families. Thank you for your continued support for all students at West Hills!

Loss of Privilege Policy
Attendance and behavior are a priority at West Hills High School. There is a direct correlation between student achievement, behavior, and attendance. Every day missed is a lost opportunity for students to learn. In addition, students who are assigned detention or other consequences for school violations must fulfill their consequences.
See our Loss of Privilege Policy HERE.

Anonymous Tip Line
Last week, we sent an email regarding the Tik Tok challenge encouraging students to steal and / or do damage to school property, specifically our restrooms and encouraged students that if they ¨See something, Say Something¨. We want to let students and parents know that in the google toolbar in student Chromebooks, they will see this icon (pictured to the left), (P3) which is an anonymous tip line.
If students click on this icon in their toolbar, it takes them to a new window where they can report problems on campus with theft, vandalism, or other possible criminal acts, or simply let us know there is a concern about a person in our school community or their world. This tip line then alerts both law enforcement and educational staff so we can pursue this information and investigate. It is anonymous and can be done from the privacy of the student's Chromebook.
Thank you for helping us keep our campus safe, clean and operational. We are "ALL IN" together!

Observances This Week
We celebrate our diversity and multicultural population within our school community.
This week, we observe the different holidays and celebrations that are acknowledged around the world!
Observances this week:
October- NATIONAL BULLYING PREVENTION MONTH - A campaign to unite communities nationwide to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention.
October- NATIONAL DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT AWARENESS MONTH - Recognizes the contributions of workers with disabilities.
October- LGBT HISTORY MONTH - Marks and celebrates the lives and achievements of lesbian, gay bisexual and transgender people in the United States.
HAPPY NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH!
Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402.
The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September18, respectively. Also, Columbus Day or Día de la Raza, which is October 12, falls within this 30 day period.
