First Week Temporary Schedule

This week we will be following a temporary schedule. Please see the schedule that was emailed and handed out in mailboxes for details for the week. Thank you to Chris Hohlbein for helping me put this temporary schedule together. Chris and I will be working to complete a master schedule for the remainder of the year. Thank you for your patience with the schedule.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

For the first day of school, parents may bring their child to the classroom. Starting Wednesday this week, we are asking all students to walk to their classrooms on their own. Please be available in the hallways before school to assist students who may need help with this. If we need kindergarten safeties to help with this, we will let you know.


For the time being, we will do our afternoon dismissal via the new PA system. Do not release any students until they are dismissed via the PA system. We will call our safeties to their post at 3:50 PM. We will call Prime Time Care Students and Walker Students at approximately 3:55 PM to report to their spots. Shamrock Pick Up and Car Riders will be dismissed at around 3:57 PM. A bell will ring at 4:02 PM. This is when we will begin Bus Rider dismissal. We will call a grade level at a time starting at 4:02 PM. Typically, our departure time is 4:09 PM. (Two minutes later than last year.) That means all students should be on their way home at that time. Thank you for working together to keep kids safe and by getting them to their correct destination at the end of the day.


Please make sure you know early where each student should be headed at the end of the day. If you have questions, please let us know in the office.

PTA Welcome Back Picnic

The Dublin PTA would like to welcome you to our PTA Welcome Back Picnic which will take place on Friday, September 11th from 5:00-7:00 PM outside on the Dublin playground. This is a great event that allows all families to reconnect with friends, families and staff from Dublin. The PTA will be serving pizza from Hungry Howie's for dinner, will have information about PTA membership, and there will be opportunities to sign up to volunteer at PTA events throughout the school year. Bring your lawn chairs and your blankets for this fun welcome back family event. Pizza must be pre-ordered for this event with the PTA. Pizzas will not be sold during the event. Welcome New Kindergarten Students!

Kindergarten students will have a full day of school on Tuesday, September 8th. Our kindergarten teachers are planning special events for the half hour of the day on the first day of school. Parents of kindergarten will be bringing their kindergarten student to school at 9:15 AM on the first day of school. Parents and kindergarten students should report to their classroom for a fun activity together. Kindergarten parents have been asked to bring a lunch the first day to help in the cafeteria.


To welcome our new kindergarten parents, our Dublin PTA has scheduled a special "Boo Hoo" Breakfast for all kindergarten parents in the Media Center on the first day of school. This will take place from approximately 9:30-10:30 AM after students are settled in their classrooms and after the special activity teachers have planned. Kindergarten parents are encouraged to stop by the Media Center before they leave for the day for light refreshments and to meet and greet PTA board members. Parents will receive important school information, sign up for the PTA, and get the chance to network and meet other kindergarten parents at Dublin.


Also, our kindergarten students will be each wearing their special classroom color t-shirts to help identify their classmates and group. Watch for these colors this week! These are especially helpful on the playground and in the lunchroom this first week of school.

Lunch, Food Service Information, and Lunch Leaders

Our hot lunch program begins on Tuesday, September 8th. The cost for a hot lunch will be $2.50 this year. The cost for a reduced lunch will be $.40. Breakfast will be available every day at Dublin and will also begin the first day of school. The cost for breakfast will be $1.25. Breakfast is $.30 for eligible free and reduced lunch students. Some students need free and reduced lunch services. Click HERE if you need this form or need to direct parents to this form. We have these in our office too. A hard copy of the form is in your mailbox for every student. Please make sure they go home the first day of school. Please also send home a lunch menu with every child the first day of school. You can always access the lunch and breakfast menu on our school and district website too. This year we will have a salad bar for students and staff every week. This will take place every Tuesday starting September 29th.


Please choose two lunch leaders every week to assist Karen Schmitt in the lunchroom. These leaders should wear their lunch leader lanyard every day to the cafeteria so Karen can identify who they are each week. Please help students not to lose these lanyards.


Please remember to come into the lunchroom approximately five minutes before your students are scheduled to leave. They need your assistance for transition back to the classroom. Thank you.


PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take an accurate lunch count yourself each day with students. I understand that some teachers allow students to do this as a job, but it is critical that you have your eyes on this count each day so that an accurate lunch count is given to Elaine Hale. We have had several issues with this in the past where students are not ordering or get to the line and have no idea what they ordered. Please help with this by taking an accurate count and checking this with students before it is sent down each morning. Thank you.

Curriculum Nights

Please be sure to mark your calendars. Our Curriculum Nights will take place on three separate nights to discuss the curriculum at each grade level. Curriculum Night is designed for parents only. Parents may come from 6:30-8:00 PM on these nights to learn about the curriculum, program, and view materials for each grade level. All parents will meet in the cafeteria first at 6:30 PM followed by grade level and classroom presentations from 7:00-8:00 PM. Please join me for about 5 minutes at 6:30 PM in the cafeteria for introductions, and then I will release you to go to your classrooms. I will simply introduce you. You do not have to speak to the group. All FAPES and Special Service staff should let me know asap which evening you will be attending. Please send me any or all of your Curriculum Night materials before your scheduled evening. We will NOT be signing parents up for conferences at Curriculum Night. Parents must sign up for conferences online this year on Skyward Family Access. I will let you know when parents may begin this sign up. Peanut Free Practices, Birthdays, and Snacks

The following was information sent to parents regarding Peanut Free Practices, Birthdays, and Snacks at school...


Peanut Free Classrooms

Please be aware that we have students at Dublin Elementary that may have a life-threatening allergy to peanuts and/or tree nuts. Some students may not eat, touch, or even inhale the aroma of peanuts or tree nuts without having life-threatening consequences. As a result, it is imperative that we all keep this in mind when planning for any food brought into school. This year, your child’s classroom may be designated as a nut free classroom. If your child's classroom is designated as a nut free classroom, please do not send in food items that contain peanuts, tree nuts, or nutmeg. ANY non-labeled foods (home baked items included) for class parties cannot be ingested, either. This also includes food that is manufactured in facilities that process peanuts/tree nuts. Many food items are safe for consumption, but may require a different brand if the product is manufactured in a facility that processes tree nuts. Your child's teacher will notify you if your child's classroom is a peanut free classroom, and will give you a suggested snack and party list of foods to help guide you with food choices. There are also peanut free tables designated in our cafeteria.


Birthday Treats

We are asking that parents DO NOT send food items in for birthday treats. Other items such as pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. are other choices for birthdays. At the beginning of each month, Mr. Drewno will meet with all students that celebrate their birthday that month, and have a "Popsicles with the Principal" treat.


Snacks and Water

Time will be allotted in your child's classroom for a snack each day. We encourage students to eat healthy snacks-preferably fruit, vegetables or a source of protein if possible. To help with recycling, it would be best to have a reusable water bottle for your child to use for water if needed.


As always, the health, safety and well-being of each and every child at our school is of the utmost importance to all of us. Thank you for your continued support .

Constitution Day 2015

Please remember that Thursday, September 17th is Constitution Day. Please let me know what each of you will be doing at grade levels to celebrate this day. I will need to get this information to Mary Kline.

Substitute Folders

Don’t forget that all teachers should submit a substitute folder to the office as soon as possible. This is very important when we need plans for a sub. Please turn your sub folders in to Wanda and Patti.
