Luck is believing you're lucky-Tennessee Williams
Dear Wildcat Families,
When we consider the world, it is important to realize how lucky we truly are. The past few weeks, have caused many of us to pause and reflect on all that we really do have. Here at Wharton we are fortunate to have a wonderful staff and students who are willing to encourage each other to take academic risks and support their peers.
This week students have diligently worked to complete the first week of IAR testing. Daily students came to school prepared to try their best, and we are tremendously proud of their efforts. Testing will continue next week as well, with our final day being March 17. We ask families to continue to support the testing efforts and ensure students arrive to school on time and well rested.
As we enter spring, please continue to encourage students to remain academically focused as there still are curricular tasks to be completed as we ensure students are prepared for their transition to Heritage Middle School.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.
Educationally yours,
Mrs. Sara Leone, Interim Principal

Glow Parties
Students earned glow parties for decreasing their disruption referrals. This was a non uniform day for students and glow sticks were provided to all, and classrooms enjoyed fun games and snacks.
February Students of the Month
Our February Students of the Month displayed outstanding characteristic including but not limited to academic excellence, empathy, dedication, perseverance, and academic growth. We are proud of these wonderful students!
PBIS News
We are proud that students decreased their disruption referrals. This decrease helps our teachers in having more instructional time, as time is not spent correcting behaviors. For March, we are focused on making every minute of every day count, and we are encouraging students to arrive to school on time. Our motto this month is 'We want to see you, NACHO tardies!' If the entire building has less than 68 tardies in March, a decrease of 12% from our February tardies, all students will receive a nacho party prior to Spring Break.
Spirit Week: Week of March 21st
Student Council will be hosting a spirit week starting on March 21. Each day is filled with a themed dress day, as we celebrate the completion of IAR testing and the anticipation of Spring Break. All students are encouraged to participate, however if they chose not to they should wear their regular uniform to school.
Monday: PJ Day
Tuesday: Blue and Yellow Day (in support of Ukrainian people)
Wednesday: Sports Day
Thursday: Hat Day
Friday: Vacation Day

Celebrate Women's History Month
Every year, March is designated Women’s History Month by presidential proclamation. The month is set aside to honor women’s contributions in American history.
Did You Know? Women’s History Month started as Women’s History Week . . .
Women’s History Month began as a local celebration in Santa Rosa, California. The Education Task Force of the Sonoma County (California) Commission on the Status of Women planned and executed a “Women’s History Week” celebration in 1978. The organizers selected the week of March 8 to correspond with International Women’s Day. The movement spread across the country as other communities initiated their own Women’s History Week celebrations the following year.
In 1980, a consortium of women’s groups and historians—led by the National Women’s History Project (now the National Women's History Alliance)—successfully lobbied for national recognition. In February 1980, President Jimmy Carter issued the first Presidential Proclamation declaring the Week of March 8th 1980 as National Women’s History Week.
Daily, as part of morning announcements, students hear about influential women, who have positively impacted our world.
