February 16th - Technology PD Day Overview

Below is an overview of our February 16th Professional Development Day that will take place at Dater School. Please note that the morning sessions are breakout sessions and the afternoon will provide a block of time to create tech integrated lessons with your colleagues. The registration form will be coming on Wednesday. Please confer with your colleagues to see if you would like to attend the same workshop, or separate workshops in preparation for the afternoon work session.

AM Workshop Sessions

Giving students voice in an authentic, student-centered learning environment.

Strategies for supporting literacy and fostering a student-centered learning experience.

Apps being used: Storybird, Little Bird Tales, Storyboard That, Canva, Tackk, My Storybook


Writing in response to reading: Publishing tools for writers.

This session will focus on writing in response to reading and publishing tools for writers (informational, narrative and persuasive writing).

Apps used in this session: Book Creator, Adobe Voice and Adobe Slate


Making Global Connections to Foster 21st Century Competencies and Deeper Learning

Learn how to connect students with experts, classrooms, and authentic audiences around the world. We will engage in live video conferencing using Skype and Zoom Meeting with people near and far. You will come away from this session with strategies, examples, and resources to help you get started immediately to connect your classroom to the world in new and exciting ways.

Interactive student-centered assessments

Using student-centered assessment apps to evaluate student learning.

Creating Learning Centers for the K-5 Classroom

Learn how to utilize iPad-based learning centers to engage students and facilitate authentic and conceptual learning.

Creation tools for performance assessments and end of unit projects

Learn how students can demonstrate and apply knowledge using creation apps.

Apps being used in this session: Explain Everything, Shadow Puppets, Book Creator, and iMovie


Integrating the iPad into Classroom Instruction

Master the challenges of classroom workflow management and learn (hands-on) techniques that make teaching with the iPad easier and more effective while adding value to your lessons.

Apps used in this workshop: Google Classroom (Workflow) , Pages (Writing), Actively Learn (Reading), Padlet (Collaboration) and Nearpod (Assessment)
