Here are some highlights of things I’ve noticed the past couple weeks:
I learn so much when I am in your classrooms for informal visits! One thing that has impressed me over the last two weeks is how reflective teachers are about teaching and learning. You are being thoughtful by planning how you will intentionally address student engagement for focus and attention, sharing strategies with colleagues, and reflecting on how your efforts are impacting student learning.
I am hearing teachers talking about, planning, trying out, and refining:
Partner talk strategies
Use of whiteboards to keep students actively focused on learning across many content areas
How to best keep students engaged during shared reading (Teachers are grappling with…Use the screen only? Use my books only? Use screen+ my books? Teacher at screen or teacher walking around with Teaching Pal and using proximity? Students at desks or students at carpet?) What is working best in your classroom to keep students actively reading and thinking during shared reading?
It has also been inspiring to hear teachers share their plans for small group instruction. Now that you have so much information about students, teachers are really diving into intentional small group instruction to meet varied needs.
I see your intentional planning for students and your efforts toward continuous growth for students and yourself. Thank you!

Think about including in your next class newsletter:
Our Veterans Day Assembly is coming up on Thursday, Nov. 9th. Each year we collect photos of veterans connected to our school and honor them during our assembly. We would like teachers to include a link to the Google Form in order to collect submissions from new families and make sure that all of our Veterans are included. All staff are also encouraged to include any Veterans that they know!
Here is the message that you could include in your School Newsletter:
