Mrs. Greene's 3rd Grade

January 8, 2016

A PRODUCTIVE Week!

Like I said in my email earlier in the week, your kids came back to school ready to get back to work! It was such a fun week full of enthusiasm toward seeing friends, beginning Science, and making new 3rd Quarter Reading Goals. I'm looking forward to next week already!

If you have questions after seeing your child's report card today, please email or call. I am always happy to meet with you!

Here is the plan for next week...

Reading: "What Causes Matter to Change?

  • Comparing Points and Details of different texts
  • Reading a Blog
  • Using Text Features to help understand text
  • Spelling Skill: Long I

Writing:

  • Written response to text
  • Writing STAMINA - 2 minute timed writes
  • Adjectives

Math: Chapter 7 - FRACTIONS

We took Part 1 of the Math MAP test today. We test 40 minutes for two sessions. Our next session will be Monday, January 11.

WOW!! Thank you so much for all of the treat you sent in for our unit on Fractions. So far we have used M&Ms. We will put the other "goodies" to use next week!

Science: Plants

I was so proud of Ava, Arya, and Matthew! They both conducted a Science Experiment at home then came to school to share their experiment. They did an AMAZING job! I encourage students to take the learning outside of the walls of Room 9. It was a joy to watch their presentations!

  • We will grow Wisconsin Fast Plants
  • Using the Scientific Method to experiment with our plants
