Feature Story: VOCAL FEST 2023
The first ever Vocal Fest took place at the high school in early January! Students from all four WFB schools joined their voices in song, celebration, and learning. Community bonds were formed across grade levels and schools as students experienced being a part of a group, worked toward a shared goal, and forged new social connections.

Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as "The Bard." When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theater involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz.
Something Rotten features large song and dance numbers, and a wacky cast of over-the-top characters, each given his or her own special moment in the show to shine. Throughout its Broadway run, the musical received a show-stopping standing ovation from audiences... in the beginning of the first act! You don’t want to miss this one!

Crossing Guard Appreciation Week: January 9-15
The School District of Whitefish Bay celebrated our Crossing Guards during Crossing Guard Appreciation Week with donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate. Many community members also shared their thanks with the guards personally and through social media posts. The Crossing Guard program has been managed by the Recreation and Community Education Department for over 50 years!
Our guards are much appreciated by our Whitefish Bay community and its students. Day in and day out, the guards are on our corners in all types of weather ensuring our students get to and from school safely.
In support of our helpful Crossing Guards, we ask our families to review safety measures with your children to ensure that everyone in the community is safe as they travel in the community.
- Obey traffic signals
- Cross the street only at a corner or crosswalk
- Always stop and look both ways before crossing the street
- When a crossing guard is stationed at the intersection, wait for them to assist when crossing the street
Thank you, Crossing Guards, for promoting a culture of safety in our community!
Speak Up, Speak Out Safety Reporting
Safety in the Whitefish Bay School District is a priority. The District seeks to provide a safe and positive learning environment for all students and staff. Each school year we continue to assess and refine our safety protocols and practices across a number of domains to continue improvement in this area.
Students, parents, school staff, or community members can submit a school safety concern or threat via the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of School Safety (OSS) Speak Up, Speak Out (SUSO) Resource Center, a 24/7 threat reporting system. Speak Up, Speak Out allows students and community members to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at school students, school employees, and schools.
