A Note from the Principal
On Tuesday, 20 November, we held our last School Council meeting for the year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our amazing School Council members. School Council discuss a variety of things during the year from student data to planting trees. At Tuesday’s meeting we discussed Promotion of our school and how do we tell the local community about all the fabulous things that are happening at Healesville Primary School. We will be having a Promotions Committee starting in 2019. If you would like to be part of that committee please contact the school office.
Year 5/6 Camp
The 5/6 Camp to the City has been organised for December 3 to December 7. Thank you to all the people who have gone above and beyond to get the camp booked and ready.
Friday Assembly
This term we have changed our School Assembly from Monday mornings to Friday afternoons. It has been fantastic to see so many parents attending our assembly. Thank you!
Giving Tree
Each year Healesville Primary School has the opportunity for families to give back to our older Healesville community members via our Giving Tree. Donated gifts will be given to residents of Monda Lodge, Holmwood Nursing Home and Aurrum Aged Care facility (Dementia Unit)
If you would like to participate in the Giving Tree please contact the school office.
Bush Fire
Although we live and work in a beautiful part of the world, surrounded by vegetation and wildlife, we cannot underestimate the dangers of the bushfire season. Following a drier than normal winter and warmer spring, the Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a long, hot summer.
Healesville PS is on the Bushfire at Risk Register (BARR). This means we need to be particularly vigilant during the warmer months and ensure that we have an effective Emergency Management plan in place. Our current plan identifies the school hall as our shelter in place and this is where all students and staff would move to in the event of an external emergency situation. The hall has additional fire safety features. If we were required to evacuate the school, our first off site evacuation point is St Bridget’s oval and our second point is the RACV Club. RACV will only be used on extreme emergencies. We take our responsibilities very seriously and aim to have evacuation drills or lockdown drills throughout the year.
As a BARR school we are closed on Code Red days. You will be notified by letter and via Dojo if this is to occur. Most importantly of all, we will make every effort to communicate with you at all times. Please ensure that your current email address and mobile number is on file at the school. If there is an emergency situation at the school we will contact all families via email and SMS and Dojo.

Ladybugs - by Brookley H (1/2H)
Ladybugs, ladybugs, what do you eat
Do you eat insects or do you eat meat or
Do you like the taste of someone's smelly feet
There are 400 types of ladybugs in the world
But can you tell the difference between a boy and a girl
Their spots will get lighter as time passes by
They flap their tiny wings and take off to the sky
The adult ladybug will live up to a year and
After that time they will just disappear
Everywhere I look and everywhere I see
There might just be a ladybug right in front of me.
If your child has collected 10 Dollarmite tokens and would like to redeem them for a School Banking reward item this term, please fill in your child’s redemption slip and bring it along to one of our School Banking days before 30 November 2018. This will ensure the reward item will arrive before the school holidays.
Our final School Banking day for 2018 is Tuesday 11th December. Any Dollarmite tokens that are not redeemed this year can be used in 2019.
