Letter from Principal Marc Morris

Dear Parents/Guardians,

You know what time it is? It is back-to-school time! We are so excited to be welcoming our students back to Grant in person for the 2021-22 school year. We know things are going to look a little different starting this year with masks. However, our goal is to have students in the building for full days, 5 days a week and we are hopeful that wearing masks and taking many safety precautions will get us there. We know how important it is to have in person instruction and get our students back to a regular school routine.

We are planning our annual Drop-in/Drop-off event for September 7 from 3:30-5:00 PM. Please feel free to come in and visit your child’s classroom as well as drop off any supplies that you have purchased. Speaking of purchasing school supplies, we are offering a package of supplies for $25 which will cover all needed materials except a backpack, lunch sack, and water bottle. All other supplies your child will need will be contained in our pre-made package. Visit the office if you are interested in purchasing a school supply package.

Please continue to be involved in your child’s education. I want to encourage you to ensure daily attendance; promote positive attitudes towards school; assist in the completion and return of any homework; and visit during special events and conferences. Unfortunately, in-building volunteering will be limited this year due to COVID restrictions, but we will have some other unique volunteer opportunities that our Community School Outreach Coordinator (CSOC) will be advertising. We are way more successful educating your child when we do this as a team!

I look forward to seeing all of you soon! Go Grizzlies!

Sincerely,

Marc Morris-Principal

Rider Registration Process

Salem-Keizer Public Schools requires bus-rider registration for all district students requesting transportation on a regular bus route. Students receiving transportation as a related service to an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) will have their request initiated through their teacher or case manager.

Who Needs to Register

Any transportation-eligible student who wants to ride the school bus to and/or from school needs to be registered. Students must register for bus service every school year.

Transportation-eligible means that the student lives at a residence within their neighborhood school attendance boundary, and the residence is outside the State of Oregon defined walk zone for that school. The walk zones are 1.0 mile for elementary students and 1.5 miles for secondary students.

Registrations are accepted and processed all year. Please complete registration for your student as soon as possible through ParentVue.

For the 2020-2021 school year, please click this link to check for eligibility. A link will be provided to an online form for eligible students and their families to fill out to register.
