Here is What's Happening in the East Oakview Library
World Read Aloud Day
On Wednesday, March 4 (and Thursday, March 5) students at East Oakview celebrated World Read Aloud Day 2015. Students skyped with other classes around our district, state and country to share the joy of a read aloud story. Our school connected with students in Indiana, Illinois, Connecticut, Maryland, Texas, Michigan and Massachusetts.
UNDER THE SEA BOOK FAIR
Our spring book fair is in the books...and it was our biggest selling book fair to date! Thank you for your flexibility during this time. It's always amazing to see our students so excited about books!
Our students donated change to help buy books for the kids at Gilda's Club of Grand Rapids. We were able to purchase fifteen new books for them!
Also, thank you to the fourth grade students who helped our kindergarten students during their preview/wishlist time. It was a HUGE help!
BOOK MADNESS
Starting Wednesday, March 18, we will be having our own version of March Madness in the library....BOOK MADNESS. You will see the "brackets" on the bulletin board across from the library. The purpose of Book Madness is to reinvigorate some older book titles. I've chosen eight titles (by four authors) to compete in our tournament. The hope is that this will bring some awareness of these older titles back to our students. You can watch the Animoto of our Book Madness selections here.
