CHS Weekly Update
Week 25: 3-1-2020
March is Here
If TGIM (Thank God It's March) were a thing, it would be for me. Although I'm grateful for many moments of February, all the intensity that many of us experienced from students, sickness, and other situations can just remain in February already. :)
March is here and it looks to be bringing some warm weather following our highly anticipated two snow days last week! Although it's hard to believe, we are really going to ramp up from now until the end of the year with testing, senior activities, and probably the most time consuming - packing up our building for the bond.
Other Things on My Mind...
- We have PD on March 6th and it will run from 11:45 - 2:45. Thanks to our staff holding sessions and Kelly and Trisha for organizing an awesome day. They have even catered lunch for us in the library which will be available after school until the start of PD. Lunch will be from Mission BBQ and looks to be delicious. In order to be prepared for this PD, please be thinking about your personal goals for growth within your teaching practice as well as where you would like to go with a particular unit or lesson. We will also be providing feedback to our session presenters and discussing how we can implement as a group to ensure that we can make the time well spent!
- If you are a teacher of seniors, please keep reminding them they will be participating in a mock interview on the day of SAT. This will serve as their required work and will result in a school-related absences.
- SUPER IMPORTANT: Please help me in communicating that March 10th is not a day that students should be staying home. For those of you who are not aware, the City of Brownstown has selected CHS as a site for voting, and while we have worked hard to try to move this, it's not possible for this year. We have a solid plan in place that will have very little impact on our building, however, there are some who are using Woodhaven and Summit's closing as a reason to push this issue again. To be clear, the State has indicated that we may NOT use this as an Act of God day putting us back in the situation that happened on November 1st. Additionally, we are no stranger to hosting events that bring in the public like World Wetlands Day, Native American Day, the Robotics Competition, among others during the school day. Please ensure that you are having important, can't be missed activities, projects, assessments, etc. on this day. I will put the letter going out to families this evening below.
- Don't forget to sign up for those observation times with your evaluator!
- We could still use 2 more people to help with SAT conversations on Thursday. Please let me know if you can help out!
- Have an awesome week! :)
