RMS Wildcat Weekly
November 6th, 2020 Information for our Families
Greetings Wildcat Families!
Thank you for your flexibility and grace as we worked through the issues with pivoting to virtual learning for all Wildcats this week. Students in our Vista Classic model are scheduled to return to in-person learning on campus on Thursday, November 12. All students will follow the Virtual Schedule on Monday and Tuesday of next week. On Wednesday, we have NO SCHOOL in honor of Veteran's Day. We sincerely honor and thank the veterans who have served and who continue to serve us with pride and courage. We appreciate your service. On Thursday, November 12, our classic students return, and they will follow our Classic Bell Schedule.
Please read through the rest of this week's announcements for information on progress reports, our new FastBridge assessment system, and upcoming PTA events. As always, we are so grateful for our involved and supportive RMS community. Our PAWS of the month is Collaboration, and our Wildcat students, staff, and parents exemplify and practice this trait in so many ways.
Have a wonderful and safe weekend.
Sincerely,
Heather Golly

New Testing Program- FastBridge
FastBridge Testing
The assessments are not very long (approximately 35 minutes for the reading test and 35 minutes for the math test). If your student has not completed either assessment, your student should attend one of the Zoom make-up sessions during asynchronous time (periods 5, 6, 7, and 8) on Tuesday, 11/10/20. Links for the Zoom make-up sessions will be shared in the ELA and Math Canvas courses and via email.
Students will be reminded by their teachers and by administration that they need to attend a make-up session if they have not completed either one of these assessments. Please encourage your students to finish these assessments and to do their best so that our teachers have the most accurate information possible. Thank you for your support!

CLASSIC LEARNING MODEL REMINDERS
Classic Learning Model Reminders
Please remember that it is crucial that our entire RMS community follow clear expectations so that we can stay as safe possible. These expectations will include procedures and requirements for...
- wearing of face coverings
- arrival and dismissal
- one directional hallways during passing periods and lunch
- social distancing inside and outside of the classroom
- lunch procedures
- bringing their charged Chromebook and personal supplies every day
- practicing safe hygiene, including washing hands frequently and using hand sanitizer when entering classrooms
- daily health screening of your student
To help our students understand and follow these expectations, we have shared an RMS COVID-19 Student Agreement that we have asked students and parents to sign. It is so important that we all do our part to stay safe. We also reviewed these guidelines in detail with students on Tuesday, 10/20.
We will need our families to be partners in these efforts to keep everyone safe by reinforcing these requirements and by ensuring that if students are showing ANY symptoms of COVID-19, they must not come to school. Please see the detailed information below on how to screen for symptoms and what to do if there has been confirmed exposure to or a confirmed case of COVID-19.
To support our staff at school, we have implemented many precautions as well, including providing the following:
- Masks for each staff member
- Daily self screening for each staff member and daily temperature checks
- Hand sanitizer for each Classic classroom
- Hand soap and paper towels for each restroom and rooms with sinks
- Seven new handwashing stations around campus
- Cleaning supplies for every teacher if they choose to wipe down common areas or desks
- Regular sanitizing throughout the day of restrooms and common areas
- Isolation plans for anyone showing symptoms on campus
- HEPA filters for any classroom that does not have opening windows
- Social distancing, where possible, in classrooms. Please note that while the average number of students in our core classes is closer to 25, we will have classes that have up to 30 students. Our PE and elective classes are larger than that, but will be held outside or in the MPR. This makes it even more important that students follow their agreements.
Lunch
Before You Come to Campus
- Fever with or without chills (Temperature >100.00 that does not resolve within 30 min without medication)
- Cough, shortness of breath
- Nasal congestion
- Sore throat
- Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
- Fatigue
- New loss of taste or smell
- Headache
- Muscle or body aches
- Poor appetite
If you/your child has any of these symptoms, stay home and have a parent call the office at: 760-726-8003 ext. 63010.

School Bus Transportation
Students who live two miles away or more from the school, may apply for school bus transportation. School Bus Passes are being sent to our school as student’s applications get approved by our transportation department. Ms. Martha in the counseling office will distribute bus passes to students as soon as they arrive. Students have a two week grace period where bus drivers will not require them to have a bus pass to ride the bus to school and home. After the two weeks period is over, students will not be allowed to ride the bus without a bus pass.
For questions, parents should follow up with Mr. Marcos Chavira at our transportation department at 760-726-2170, extension 92804.
