Middle School Registration for Current Fifth Graders

Middle School Course Information and Registration information continues to come in! Please feel free to reach out to our Wellington counselors, Tracie Kroenert @ KroenertT@lisd.net and/or Kristin King @ KingK@lisd.net or your child’s middle school counselors for more information and specific questions.

HERE is an LISD Course Description Guide to help you in choosing classes for next year! This guide is for all LISD middle schools.

McKamy:

McKamy MS offered a virtual parent session earlier in January and teachers showed their registration presentation and shared their SMORE Registration Newsletter in class.

This week, they conducted a 5th grade class WebEx with McKamy Counselors for Questions and Answers. In case you missed it, HERE is the link containing the SMORE.

The registration window is open from January 19th- February 5th. Students may review, select, and change course selections anytime during this time frame. Please keep in mind there is not a submit button!! Everything is saved in Skyward as you make changes. Once your student is confident with their choices, parents will fill out the Parent Verification Form further down this page. Please keep in mind there are no hard copy forms and everything is electronic and done using the student Skyward access.

Forestwood:

5th grade teachers will show the FWMS registration video/presentation the first week in February. Following that presentation, please be on the lookout for their FWMS registration SMORE via email. The FWMS SMORE Newsletter will have the FWMS presentation that your student viewed and additional helpful resource links. At this time, they are NOT planning to have a “parent night” as the 6th grade presentation will have all the information in it that you will need.

Please keep in mind that FWMS not only will be a SIP campus next year, they are also transitioning to a STEM campus, which is very exciting! If you have specific or further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us or the FWMS Counselors and we are happy to help!

Shadow Ridge:

HERE is the Shadow Ridge Registration SMORE. Registration for incoming 6th graders will be open from January 19-29. If you have any questions, please refer to the SRMS SMORE or email the Wellington or Shadow Ridge Counselors.

OTHER LISD MIDDLE SCHOOLS:

If your child is planning to attend another middle school in LISD, please contact Tracie Kroenert @ KroenertT@lisd.net and/or Kristin King @ KingK@lisd.net so that we can get you the information for that particular school. You are also welcome to reach out to those campus counselors for information. Most registration windows will close at the end of January or beginning of February so please contact soon so that we can help with any needed transitions or needs.

SIP Students Transitioning to Middle School

Dear 5th Grade SIP Families,

We hope this finds you safe and well. The enrollment season is underway, which includes fifth grade transition to middle school! In order to facilitate this process, below are some important details.

·

Spanish Immersion Transition to MS Meeting was held on Thursday, January 14th.

  • The link to the SMORE newsletter will communicate to you updated information regarding the middle school transition and information from the January 14th meeting: https://www.smore.com/1wgqu
  • The newsletter has an important form you should be aware of. It is a “MS Intent Form”(https://tinyurl.com/AdvMS2021-2022). The form asks you to indicate your intent for middle school so that we can internally process your transfer to the MS Advanced Language Program. The deadline is due February 1, 2021. Decisions can certainly be made after Feb. 1, but families will need to take care of any necessary transfer paperwork after that deadline.

·

If you have any additional questions regarding SIP and Middle School, please email: SpanishImmersion@lisd.net

  • Additional information may also be found at the LISD Spanish Immersion LINK.
