US ENTRY IN WWI
1917
Reasons Why
The first reason for US entry into WWI was the sinking of the Lusitania. This was caused by a German U-boat that blew up the Lusitania because the Germans had suspicion that the passenger ship was carrying weapons to the allied powers. The second reason for the war was the Zimmerman telegram, which was a 1917 diplomatic proposal from the German Empire for Mexico to join the Central Powers against the USA. The British intercepted the telegram and gave it to the USA 1 month later. The third reason was Unrestricted Submarine Warfare. This is where, instead of Germany warning ships that they were going to stop and search them, they just blew them up. Even after the Sussex Pledge.
