Inside Parkway

September 16, 2021 – Info and updates for Parkway employees

Let's support you.

In Parkway, we are always striving to improve our employee connections, communications and provide you with the support and information you need.

We recently launched this new employee email newsletter, Inside Parkway, as one way to improve this ongoing effort. We would like your feedback on what matters most to you as we plan for these staff newsletters and other district communications.

Please tell us how we are doing and how to better support you by completing this brief survey that will only take a couple of minutes. We will use your feedback to develop our communications in the future!

Staying healthy together

The best way we can protect ourselves and others at school and work is to continue our health practices, stay home when we are not feeling well and seek testing if we have symptoms of COVID-19.

Before leaving for work, we recommend performing a daily evaluation of your health. If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, please stay home and get tested: fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, tiredness, aches and pains and/or diarrhea

Free COVID-19 testing is available at numerous locations, including CareATC, Walgreens, CVS and others.

Stay home if you also have had close contact with someone who is positive for COVID-19, or have been recently tested for COVID-19 and are awaiting the test result. Finally, please review our staff health and safety frequently asked questions.

People of Parkway – The Voice of Parkway – Mary Fischer

If you've ever called Parkway's primary phone number or visited the Administration Building, you have likely been greeted by Mary Fischer. Mary manages the front desk and is the full-time voice of Parkway when a parent, community member or employee calls the district offices. She always lends a hand and greets you with a smile.

Important to Know

What happened with the internet last week?

As you know, Parkway lost internet and phone connectivity last Thursday afternoon. This was a result of a major fiber cut that impacted a large number of entities and Charter Spectrum customers in the area. This was a fiber cut outside of the Parkway network.

For the past two years, we have been working to expand our own ability in Parkway to continue internet and phone services in the event of a vendor failure like the one that occurred last week. As part of this work, we are implementing a secondary internet service provider. Once this work is complete, we will be able to mitigate outages like we experienced last year.

Thank you to everyone for their patience and understanding as we worked through this incident.

Dates coming up

September 19 - Parkway Family Day @ Busch Stadium

September 29 - Board of Education meeting, 7 p.m.

Big picture

Staff feature photo

Today's newsletter background features our district's teaching, learning and accountability team. Last week, this team of talented individuals played a large part in preparing the resources that guided our September 11 lessons.
