Defer Dragon's Burning News

From the Principal
Dear Parents,
It was great to see many parents at conferences this week. With our parent- teacher conferences in October, it provides an opportunity to check in with your child's teacher and set goals for the school year. The connection between home and school is important for the growth of our students. We are here to support you and your family. Please let me know if there is there anything else I can do to help.
Dr. Rheaume
Lunchtime Volunteers
GPPSS Open House - Sunday, October 20 1:00 - 3:00 pm
All the school buildings will be open for the District Open House on Sunday, October 20th from 1:00 - 3:00 pm.
We would like to invite all Defer students to share the excitement of our learning space with community members at the Grosse Pointe Public School Open House at Defer.
If students choose to volunteer during the Community Open House they would be working in our school as ambassadors to the community visitors.
If your student is interested in volunteering, please fill out the Google Form below by Monday, October 14th, 2019.
We appreciate your help and support!

Drop Off and Pick Up Reminders
- We want to encourage our students and families to cross Kercheval and the surrounding streets safely. It is important to use the crosswalks and crossing guards available.
- There is No Parking on Kercheval in front of the building.
- There is No Parking along either side of Nottingham near Defer. Parking on the west side of Nottingham is allowed only during posted times and locations.
- Please do not use the Staff Parking lot for drop off or pick up of students (Kids Club drop off before/after school only)
- Since there is no parking anywhere on the east side of Nottingham, parents can drop off students at any point along the full length of Nottingham from Vernor to Kercheval on the Defer side of the street. You do not need to wait until you get in front of the Defer gate to drop off or pick up your child.
- Bottom line---Please Stop, Drop and Go! This will help the traffic to flow smoothly.
- Any child coming in to school after the morning bell has rung MUST be accompanied by an adult and MUST be signed in at the office.
