A Message from the Principal
I hope everyone is enjoying the slightly cooler weather today. This issue of the Cavalier Contact has several pictures celebrating our recent homecoming celebration as you can see above with the Homecoming King & Queen, Emnet Waugh and Nick Drotar. You can also see the senior class picture below after the Senior Sunrise event on October 15th, 2022.
This issue of the Cavalier Contact provides need to know information on Counseling programs & updates, upcoming meetings, the student of the month, and more. Please take a moment and view this issue so you are prepared for the upcoming events.

Student of the Month - Malachi Drumgole
Malachi Drumgole, son of Lisa Drumgole, was selected as Student of the Month for September at Caroline High School. Malachi was selected by his teachers and administration because of his academic success as well as his personality and school involvement. He is a member of the Student Council Association, the Principal's and Superintendent's Advisory Committees, the National Honors Society, National Senior Beta, Debate and Forensics, a Link Leader, and is also the Senior Class vice president.
Outside of school Malachi is a junior missionary at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Supply, Va and is also a junior bowler with the FredCity Strikers.
After graduation, Malachi plans on attending an HBCU to become an emergency medical physician.

Great Job CHS Marching Band
The CHS Marching Band earned a 2nd place in percussion, color guard, general effect, visuals, music, and they earned a 2nd place overall finish this weekend in North Carolina at a competition.

The FAFSA opens on October 1st and is required to be filled out by anyone who aims to enroll in a college or university. We will be hosting a FAFSA night on October 26th at 6 pm. Please fill out this google form to help us help you in submitting the FAFSA. This link will bring you to an FSA web page that lists the materials required to successfully complete the FAFSA.
Germanna Cybersecurity Scholarships for Juniors and Seniors FREE COLLEGE CLASSES! Germanna has the opportunity to offer college credit courses that are part of the IT and Cybersecurity degree pathway to high school juniors and seniors for FREE! This scholarship covers tuition and fees, textbooks and professional certification exam costs. Some of the courses included are ENG 111-College Composition, BUS 236-Business Communication, HIS 121-U.S. History to 1877, ECO 201-Principles of Macroeconomics, and many IT/Cyber courses. All of these credit courses are online, asynchronous and are either 5 weeks or 7 weeks per course. Classes will begin October 18 and beyond. Students are allowed to take one or two during a specific 5 weeks or 7 weeks period. For more information Click Here

You will need to have access to certain information in order to successfully fill out the FAFSA, whether you choose to complete it with us on FAFSA night or do it on your own. The link below will bring you to an FSA web page that lists the required materials and gives you a link to a sample FAFSA application, just so you are prepared for when it opens!

Cell Phone Policy
Policy - Students are permitted to use their cellphones to listen to music through earbuds or headphones in the cafeteria, hallways, and library before school starts and during class period transitions. Cell Phones are to be turned off and placed in the cell phone pocket holder when the student enters the room and must remain in the pocket until the end of class.
If parents need to communicate with a student they can do so between classes, during lunch, or before and after school. In the case of an emergency parents should contact the front office.

Cavalier Athletics Update
Fall Sports
The Battlefield District has been working collaboratively to evaluate the collective need for safety enhancements and the following security protocol will be implemented across our VHSL District beginning with the fall 2022 athletic season:
BAGS PROHIBITED - Bags will no longer be permitted at any Battlefield District sporting event including CHS athletics. Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items including diaper bags. Clutch purses no larger than 5" x 7" will be allowed. Thank you in advance for your compliance as we strive to provide a safe and secure environment for spectators and athletes.

Upcoming Athletic Events
Monday - 9/26 - The Competition Cheerleading Team competes in the District Championship at King George HS. The event begins at 6 pm. The Field Hockey Team hosts James Monroe HS with JV starting at 5 pm followed by Varsity at 6:15 pm. The Volleyball Team travels to Highland Springs HS with JV at 5:30 pm and Varsity at 6:45 pm.
Tuesday - 9/27 - The Varsity Golf Team competes in the Region 3B Championships at the Shenandoah Valley Golf Club. The JV and Varsity Volleyball Teams host Culpeper HS with JV starting at 5 pm followed by varsity at 6:15 pm.
Wednesday - 9/28 - The Varsity Cross Country team hosts Chancellor HS for a 5 pm meet and the JV Football Team hosts Eastern View HS for a 6 pm game.
Thursday - 9/29 - The Field Hockey and Volleyball Teams travel to Eastern VIew HS. JV Volleyball starts at 5 pm followed by Varsity at 6:15 pm. Varsity Field Hockey starts at 4 pm followed by the JV Field Hockey team.
Friday - 9/30 - The Varsity Football Team travels to Eastern View for a 7 pm game.
