Excited for the Year!

Our teaching staff was back together last week. The energy and anticipation for our students to rejoin us soon was shared by all! We worked together to ensure we have a consistent drive for student success in our classrooms and a common understanding around safety and student supports. We are ready for our students and can't wait to welcome our 9th graders on September 8, and all of our student on September 9!

As always, please reach out with any needs or questions as we begin this school year.

Back to School Questions

We know some students and families throughout the district might have questions as we prepare to start this school year. Here is a link to help address frequently asked questions and give you some helpful information.

Westview knows there are potential situations and classrooms where we can not guarantee 3ft distancing was maintained. Because if this, every class will have a seating chart that will be maintained for approximately six weeks. We will use these seating charts to limit the number of possible close contacts and have the ability to trace any contacts if needed.

We are also expanding our seating during lunches and opening multiple location options for seating outside the cafeteria (both indoors and out). We will work to ensure all of our students are aware of the new seating options and encouraged to take advantage of them.

Schedule Corrections

Hello Westview Students and Families,

We are excited to announce student schedules are being released this evening! The predicted release time is between 4 - 6 pm. Please be patient as every student schedule in the district is being released at the same time and the process can be slow as it rolls out across the district.

Students forecasted for classes in the Spring and had the opportunity to make changes to their forecasting in May of 2020. We made hundreds of changes at that time for students. Students are expected to enroll in and complete the classes they forecasted. We have about 70 schedules that are not yet complete.

Schedule corrections will only be considered if:

  • You have missing periods in your schedule (please know that your counselor is working on your schedule next week)
  • You are placed in the wrong level
  • Juniors or Seniors who wish to drop a period 1, 2, or 7 class for late arrival or early release, Peer Tutor, or Teaching Assistant position.
  • If you are a student that needs another type of release period, please connect with your counselor.

If you feel your schedule needs one of the corrections listed above, please complete this google form linked below instead of emailing your counselor or administrator. Counselors will receive the google form entries.

Schedule Correction Form (https://forms.gle/yrkoATXcogczUeAx5)

Note: If you forecasted for Journalism, the course name has been changed to Media as Lit. It is the same class with a new name.

We are were fortunate enough to increase our counseling staff for the 2021-22 school year. This resulted in a slight change in counselor assignments. The new 2021-22 counseling alpha assignments for Westview are:

AVID Students: Mr. Baker

A - CAR: Ms. Adamko

CAS - FRI: Ms. Budhi

FRJ - JUD: Mr. Shaw

JUE - MAZ: Mr. Rosser

MBA - POZ: Ms. Silva

PPA - STE: Ms. Saremi

STF - Z: Mr. Torres

Ms. Stremme is now the College & Career Counselor. Ms. Pearson is now our Student Manager.

We look forward to seeing all of you soon! It is going to be a great school year.

Student Parking Questions

Assigned parking will not start for at least the first two weeks of school. We will begin selling parking spaces to 12th graders during the week of Sept 13-17 and remaining spots to 11th graders the following week. Assigned parking will not begin until the 27th of September.

If you need to park in the neighborhoods around our campus, please pay attention to areas that require permits. Also, be sure to park safely and respectfully in these areas. Thank you!

If You Missed Wildcat Day

We understand not all of our students and families were not available for Wildcat Day. We have another picture day planned during the first week of school, on September 10. We will work with all of our students during the first week to ensure they have what they need. Feel free to call the school with any needs or questions at 503-356-3020. Also, we are providing school tours for 10th, and all students new to Westview on September 7. Tours for 9th grade students are September 8, the first day of classes for 9th graders.

Wildcat Families,

We are growing more excited as we approach the start of the 2021-22 school year. As we make plans for the year, we will intentionally dedicate time to rebuild and reestablish community and connections at Westview. The past 18 months provided an opportunity for us to look into our educational practices and ensure we bring back the best for our students. We acknowledge the academic, social, and personal learning that took place during the past year. We are also aware that most of our students have not had a full year of in-person learning at Westview. We will communicate all developing guidelines with our families and work to provide the safest return to school possible. We look forward to the return of our students and the energy they bring to Westview.

It's going to be a great year to be a Wildcat!

Matt Pedersen

Creating Wellness at Westview - Fundraiser

Anxiety and stress manifest in many ways and can disrupt students’ learning. We want to teach students how to self-regulate their emotions in healthy ways and re-engage in their learning. A dedicated space like the Westview Den (Wellness Center) would make this all possible!

Parent Square Communication
